“I’m not sure. Am I?” She quirks a brow.

“What sort of question is that? Of course, you are.”

“Huh. Could have fooled me.” She scoffs, dropping her foot from the wall to stand. “I can’t believe you betrayed me. After all that stuff I said to you about information is power, you went and proved me right.”

“So that, in there, was a way of punishing me for trying to help you?” I hiss, and she shrugs.

“Are you going to tell me how you got a shiner and fat lip?”

“No. Stop changing the subject,” I growl in frustration, and she rolls her eyes.

“Dramatic much?”

“Fucking hell, Kitten, you’re being such a brat today.”

“So. Are you gonnapunishme?”

“Yes!” My voice is husky as fuck as I answer her honestly.

Her nostrils flare at my comments, but she looks away for a moment, only to turn a hard glare back at me. “I’m pretty sure punishing me will breach those precious Child Safety Laws you care so much about.”

I flinch. She did not just say that. I wish she didn’t just say that, but she fucking did. And the worst thing is, I can’t blame her for throwing that at me because what the fuck am I doing? Fucking a minor? A student? Introducing her to a sex club. One that resulted in her being assaulted.

Fucking hell, Tyler. What are you fucking doing here with this child?

“Please go to the principal’s office, Miss George. She will be expecting you.”

My words, formal and nothing but a teacher, cause Rhys to flinch. Pain flashes past her chocolate eyes, her brows drawing together as she fights to control her emotions. As I turn my back on my girl and re-enter my class, I realise I have a decision to make.

I can’t have Kitten and be a teacher too. I need to choose.

And that thought breaks the heart I didn’t know I had.

Rhys

As if my day isn’t already fucked up enough—especially after the whole Health class incident that I’m struggling to understand—now I get a fucking message from Master Hill.

Kitten, your attendance is required at the lodge tomorrow evening at 9pm.

Attendance is mandatory. Failure to attend will result in harsh punishment.

Your outfit will be in the usual location.

I’m freaking out. I need to speak with Tyler, but I don’t know if I can. Is he evenmyTyler anymore? Did we just break up or something? Fucking hell. I have no idea. I’ve never been in a relationship to have experienced how breakups happen.

I feel like he drew a really fucking thick line with me today. Like the size of the Grand Canyon, and I don’t think I’m allowed back over.

“Are you sure nothing else has happened?” Garrett asks, eyeing me as we sit back against the brick wall in the courtyard.

“Yep.” I lie. “I’m just exhausted from this morning.”

I want to say, and from Health class where I think my fifth boyfriend dumped me, and from the text message from the sex club's master, but of course I don’t. I can’t tell Garrett about Tyler, and I’m not sure how to even respond to the message from Master Hill.

“Come here.” Garrett opens his arms, and we shift closer together before I sink snugly into his side as he wraps a comforting arm around me. I instantly relax. It feels like home in Garrett’s arms. He’s so big and strong and smells earthy, with a hint of spice. I’d love nothing more than to get lost in Garrett Cole right now.

“Hey, Rhys.” Tillie’s feet appear in front of me, and she lowers herself to sit cross-legged. “Sorry about earlier. I wouldn’t have said anything if I knew Mr F would go off like that.”
