“The thing is, I’m not going to make it a thing until Marcus is ok with it. We all had a talk yesterday after school, and while he’s still royally pissed about everything that’s happened, I get the feeling he wants to try and make things work.” He turns those piercing blue eyes to me then, “So until he’s ok with me being with you, then we need to remain just friends.”

I stay silent for a moment, processing what he’s just said. Is it greedy of me to want him to be right about Marcus wanting to make things work? If it’s true, then I really could have Marcus and Garrett as part of this group thing I have going. They already feel like they are part of it in a way, but to have it all with them, the intimacy and the friendship, would be something I’ve never believed I could have.

“Say something.” Garrett urges, and a small smile tugs at my lips.

“So, what you’re saying is that if Marcus is cool with it, you will share me, too?”

Grinning, he nods. “Yes. Weirdly, I’m ok with it as long as it’s just within our group.”

“Dude, I’m not inviting Jared.” I joke, and he chuckles.

“I know you’re not. I was referring to me, Bossi, Hastings and Grady.”

“You really think Marcus will want that?”

“Maybe. I get the feeling he’s trying to talk himself into it, but he’s struggling. He might just need time to wrap his head around it.” Garrett shrugs and looks back out at the water as I think over what he said.

“You know there’s another guy, right?”

“Yep. And I’m not sure I’m happy about that.” He admits.

“Why?”

Garrett’s fierce eyes return to mine, swimming with a brewing storm. “I don’t know this other guy. I don’t like that you and Bossi know and won’t tell us. What’s the big deal? I get that he’s older, but if he’s a decent guy, then I don’t see the problem with us all knowing each other.”

This is what Ty was talking about yesterday. It all comes down to secrets. They are toxic. I already know that. But I can’t reveal Ty’s identity.

“I can’t say who he is. Not yet anyway. Maybe in a year or two, but it’s too risky right now. I can’t say any more than that, Garrett. I’m sorry.”

His Adam's apple bobs as he swallows, and he turns his glare out to the water again.

“Tell me some things about him, then. I need to know he’s a good person.”

“Ok.” I smile, happy that this isn’t a deal-breaker. “He’s pretty tall and built like a gym junkie. I’m pretty sure he is, actually.”

“You don’t know if he’s a gym junkie or not?”

“No.” I shake my head. “We became acquainted at Vixen’s Lodge, so most of my interactions with him have been there.”

“So, you don’t really know him? Only through sex?”

“I’m trying not to get defensive here, Big Guy. I want to answer your question as best I can, but don’t fucking judge me, or whatever you and I have going is going to be over before it begins.”

That earns me a smirk. “I fucking love that mouth of yours.” He shakes his head and sighs. “I’m sorry. I’m not trying to be judgy. I’m just trying to understand.”

“Well, buddy, understand this. Everyone in our little group met Kitty before they metme. All except for you. I’m all about sex. You know that. You know why. So why would my interactions with Ty be any different?”

“I don’t know. I guess the fact that he’s older worries me a little. If you have to hide it, then maybe it’s wrong.” Garrett shrugs, and I sigh.

“You need to trust me on this. Ty is a good person. He cares about me.”

Garrett’s blue eyes dart between mine, studying me for a moment before his face softens and he nods.

“Ok. But there should be some rules.”

“Like what?”

“I don’t know. Maybe that everyone needs to wear protection. We don’t know who else this Ty guy fucks.”
