Sighing, Char takes her phone off the charger and hands it to me. “One fucking hour, and that’s it. And don’t watch porn on my phone.”

Gripping her phone, I grin and nod, darting out of her room to quickly return to mine.

It’s easy enough to contact Shaun, Marcus, Garrett and Sy through SnapChat, but Tyler is a different story. I don’t remember his number, but I scribbled it on my folder amongst all my other doodling a couple of years ago, so I rummage through my wardrobe until I find my old folder, opening it to find the number I’m looking for. Smiling, I close myself in my wardrobe, putting the torchlight on the phone so I can see and dial the number.

As it rings, my heart hammers in my chest, but as it rings out, my hammering heart dies. I open a message and key in the same number, sending him a text.

Unknown Number

Skipper. It’s Kitten. Pick up when I call.

I dial the number again, and it picks up on the first ring.

“Kitten?”

Oh, my fucking God, that voice. Stupid tears wet my eyes just from hearing Tyler’s deep rasp, and I have to swallow the lump in my throat before I can speak.

“Ty.”

“Shit beautiful. It’s good to hear your voice. I was getting worried when you didn’t return my messages or calls.”

“Sorry,” I speak softly, not wanting to be overheard. “My parents took my phone. I’m using my sister’s to call you. I’ll delete the call and message once we are done.”

“They took your phone?”

“Yes. I’m grounded, apparently. They’ve taken my laptop too. I’m not allowed to see anyone.” Sliding to the floor, I lean against the back wall under my hanging clothes and draw my knees to my chest.

“Damn. They aren’t messing around, are they?” His voice is light but strained. I can tell he’s trying not to make me feel worse than I already do.

“Please tell me you didn’t send me a dick pic? I’m not sure I’m comfortable with my mum looking at your dick, Ty.”

He bursts out laughing, and I can’t fight the grin that tugs at my lips.

“No, Kitten. No dick pic. Just concerned messages, asking if you’re ok.”

I nod, even though he can’t see me. “They don’t want me to see you again until I graduate.” Saying the words I hate out loud sends a slicing pain through the centre of my chest. The thought of not seeing him until I graduate is excruciating.

“I thought as much, Kitten. Don’t worry, though. If we can get through until you are eighteen, then I’ll make sure we see each other in secret.”

I smile at that. I kind of like sneaking around. It’s fun.

“Are you still in Fox Pines?”

“No. I left yesterday. I’m at my house in Redfield. I’ll lie low. Keep to myself for a bit. Hell, I’ll change my name if I have to.” His tone is light again. I can just imagine his face. He doesn’t share his lighter side with many people, but I’ve seen it. It’s seared into my brain.

“No way. I love your name.”

“Really? I was kind of hoping to change it to Gilligan.”

I giggle, probably a little too loud, but I can’t help it. “Seriously? Gilligan?”

“Yeah. Why not? It goes with Skipper.”

I laugh loud and slap my hand over my mouth. “Ty, you are going to get me busted.”

He chuckles. “Sorry, beautiful. I’ll keep Tyler for you. Ok?”

“Ok.” I grin, wishing like hell that I could touch him right now. “I miss you.”
