I was unsure I was clear, but I realized that he understood it well enough.

While I had seen Metheus’ capability for kindness and honor, there was something less than sincere about what he had just said. He was hiding something.

“Is it too hard to do that?” I squeaked, hurt at how he did not seem interested in trying.

He placed his hands on my shoulders, looking me straight in the eyes.

“We could try,” he said.
