Finally, they collapsed together into the bed. Gideon rolled over so she lay on top of him. He guided her cast to a pillow and set it down gently. Then buried his head against her neck.

“I love you, Alex Conway,” he said, his voice vibrating against her skin and sending shivers through her body. “You’re mine. And I’m yours.”

“Yes,” she whispered, turning to find his mouth. “We belong to each other.”

When their breathing returned to normal and their skin cooled, Gideon turned them onto their sides. Settled her cast between them, then touched her cheek. “Ready for the real world again?” he asked.

“I think the last ten days have been pretty real,” she said. “As real as it gets. But I am ready for normal. No hitman chasing me. No Russians or rogue FBI agents trying to kill me. Just you and I, figuring things out.”

“And we will,” he said, kissing her again. “We’ll go back to Evanston so you can get back to your job. I’ll figure out what I want to do. But whatever I decide, we’ll decide together.”

“I like the sound of that,” she said, pressing closer to Gideon. “Together.”

“Always, bae.”
