“Not really, but you know what sounds soooo good right now?”

“What?”

“A Slurpee! The 7-Eleven is only a few blocks away. Wanna get one?”

“Does a wild bear shit in the woods?” I asked.

“Um…where else would he shit?”

“Exactly.”

She shook her head, kissing me on the nose. “You’re ridiculous.”

“I thought that was one of the things you loved about me?”

She nodded. “It is.”

“Wyatt, aren’t you ever going to get sick of Coke?” Tilly asked as I pulled the biggest cup I could from the drink holder at 7-Eleven, ready to pour in my beloved Coke-flavored slush. “I swear, you’d let them hook you up to an IV if that were possible.”

“Nah, then I wouldn’t be able to taste it.”

“I’m serious. Aren’t you tired of it?”

“Not yet.”

“Try the cherry. Step outside the box.”

“No, thanks. I like my Coke.”

“Or better yet,” she said, raising one eyebrow, “let’s make a cherry coke. You can handle that, right?”

“I suppose.”

“Just try it.”

“Fine, fine. But if it sucks, I’m dumping it and getting a new one.”

“Not sure the owner will like that so much.”

I ignored her, pulling down the heavy handle and filling two-thirds of the cup with Coke. “Ah, ah, ah, too much. Cheater! Now add the cherry…and don’t skimp!”

Filling the cup to the brim with cherry slush, I stirred the flavors together with a large red straw.

Before I had the chance to taste the concoction, Tilly stole a sip.“Ah, the perfect combination.”

“So you say,” I replied, wrapping my mouth around the straw. Tilly watched as I took a sip. She was right. It was delicious. Even better than the Cherry Coke you could get in a can.

“So?” she asked, her eyes wide and curious as she grabbed her own cup and filled it with both cherry and Coke flavors.

“Delicious.”

“The perfect combination?” she said, popping the domed top on her paper cup.

“I don’t know…that’s a hard one to beat.”

“What do you mean?”

I walked a few steps and grabbed a package of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. “Peanut butter and chocolate. There’s no better flavor combo than this.”
