I drop to my knees, spread my thighs wide, and let my arms drape to my sides.

He only stands in the middle of his large bathroom unmoving. As if he knew all along I stole glances of him with lovers.

“They fall to their knees and wait for you to tell them what you need. I can do that. I can be what you need.”

His expression turns savage. “You can never be what I need. Never, do you hear me!” He roars. “Go the fuck home, Asena. Now!”

“No!” I slash my hand through the air. “I’m not leaving. Teach me. Show me. Use my body for whatever you need.”

He says nothing. Stubborn man.

“Hark,” I say with a husky whisper.

“Asena. You’re going to get me killed.” My name comes out as if it cuts him with a thousand shards of glass—rough, painful. “Fucking woman,” he grits, his teeth gnashing them together. For the first time, I see the hardcore monster break character and show me the tender underbelly.

“Leave,” he chokes out. “Leave before I fuck the darkness into you and there’s no turning back from it. From me. I have blood on my hands and you have a crown on your head. There is no you and me.”

There’s an edge of regret with undercurrents of something I can’t quite place. It sends chills through me and my instincts scream for me to run. Except I don’t fear the man as I should. He’s nearly twice my age and three times my size. In truth, the only thing I fear is him pushing me away.

“If your father or the Druid finds you here, what do you think will happen?”

The Druid. Sean Doyle. My throat squeezes at the mention of my daddy’s right-hand man and most loyal assassin. The man who prays over his victims in Gaelic before snuffing out their lives. He fancies himself a saver of souls.

I just think he’s batshit insane.

An unbidden chill scales my spine.

“Don’t worry. Everyone thinks I’m asleep in my room with all my girlfriends.”

Black eyes narrow on me. The trail is a hot path from the slope of my neck to caress over my nipples. Wicked fantasies gleam in the dark expanse of his gaze.

“Asena, you fucking witch.”

And just like that, for the first time in my life, I feel like I’m making the right choice. That this man, as deadly and dark as unrepented sin, is the man I’m willing to give my heart and life to have.

I spread my thigh a little wider and his chest rises with a long deep breath. Holding his gaze I move my hands to the V of my thighs and spread my folds so he can see what he does to me.

“Let me please you, Hark. I can be what you need.”

“What is it you think I like, Asena?”

Lifting my lashes, I stare up at him and speak the truth. “Your women submissive. Willing to do anything you command. I’ve…” I gulp back the embarrassment and push ahead. Nothing can be built on lies, right? So out with it already. Sandpaper scratches against my suddenly parched mouth and throat.

“You what sweet innocent little virgin Asena?”

Did he know? I swipe the tip of my tongue over my bottom lip. “I’ve watched you fuck others and I want to know the feel of you taking me as you took them. I want you to be my first. My last.”

Asena

He’s across the room in two long strides. Large hands slide beneath my arms and I’m in his arms, held securely against him. Rage swirls in those black depths. Storms meant to kill weaker human beings lure me closer.

Not me. His storms won’t kill me.Hewon’t hurt me. I’m sure of it.

I wrap my arms around his neck and then my legs around his waist. He takes my weight with ease. His body heat sends a foray of warmth through my chilled body from kneeling on the cold marble.

“Who put those in you?” A possessive glint flashes across his expression before morphing into hunger. He dips his head and I lean back to give him access to see the jewelry adorning my nipples—a gold bar in each with obsidian gems on either side to resemble his eyes. I bury my hands in his hair and his gaze rediscovers mine. With it, he brings a powerful sense of belonging.
