Afteraheavenlymassage and an equally dreamy facial, I was virtually floating and decided on a stroll around the ship. The evening sunset with its purplish pinks and burnt oranges resembled a stunning watercolor.

After I’d walked around the ship twice, I decided to have a drink. On entering the mocktail bar, I spied Chase chatting to a pretty girl with long blond hair. Her fitted crop top revealed sizable cleavage.

I was about to walk out when Chase caught sight of me and gestured for me to join them. I couldn’t resist. Because I hated how close she was standing to him, I plonked myself between them. Subtlety had never been my strong suit.

“How did the massage go?” he asked me.

“It was lovely. And you? Your facial?” I asked, glancing at the pretty woman, who wore an unshifting smile.

“I was only joking. I actually had a nap. I seem to be sleeping a lot. Must be the fresh air,” he said. Chase looked from me to the girl. “This is Fleur.”

“Like flower?” I asked.

“Yeah. It’s French,” she said with a deep Southern accent.

You don’t say.

“Fleur’s just taken a brew,” Chase said.

“Shouldn’t you be with someone to care for you?” I asked her.

“I thought Chase might be interested in hanging out,” she said with a twinkle in her stoned hazel eyes.

I wanted to scream. I hated how pretty she was, and with her tits hanging out she might as well have shown him her clit piercing. I imagined she had one of those, going on the butterfly tattoos fluttering down her belly.

Chase looked at me with the makings of a grin. He was enjoying this.

“No. I’m good here,” he said, returning his gaze to me. “Maybe him.” He cocked his head toward a barefoot bearded guy who looked like he’d landed on a yet-to-be-discovered planet.

Fleur turned toward the tripped-out guy. “He looks nice. But I kinda like you.”

“My girlfriend wouldn’t approve, I’m afraid,” he said, winking at me.

Although I wanted to slap him, I appreciated that he ignored her flirting.

“Oh well. If you change your mind…” She smiled and floated off toward the hippie dude.

“That was kinda dishonest,” I said.

“I had to come up with something.”

“She’s really pretty,” I said.

“Maybe. I didn’t like what was coming out of her mouth.”

“But isn’t it more about coming into her mouth?” I smirked.

He rolled his eyes. “Oh God, Ivy. Not everything’s about sex.”

“Really? What have you done with Chase Elliot, the former sex addict and dick fondler?”

“He grew up, removed his dick from his hand, and decided to marry a beautiful girl named Ivy. Only to be dumped on his ass. Now he’s a broken soul. A shadow of his former self.”

My jaw dropped, and a stuttered giggle tumbled out of my contorted face. “Are you serious? I’m the victim here. You fucking hurt me.”

Chase puffed out a tired breath. “Look, Ivy, I’m sorry. I really didn’t think it through. If I could rewind, I would have told you about the pressure my father put on me. But then would you have agreed to marry me?”
