“You hate him?” I sipped on the deliciously rich wine.

“You could say that. He’s stealing clients by undercutting us. We went to college together. Good buddies for a while. Inseparable actually.”

“So what happened?”

He took a deep breath and tapped my hand. “Just us rubbing each other the wrong way. Boys behaving badly.”

When our food arrived, I sensed he was relieved by the interruption, but I was too hungry to probe further.

I ate my steak like someone who hadn’t eaten for a month.

Chase smiled. “You really are hungry.”

“What did he mean by your different date?” I asked, dabbing my mouth with a cotton serviette.

He took a sip of wine. “I had to go to a reunion with one of our clients as her fake date.”

“Fake date?” I asked, studying him closely.

“She’s gay. But she’s running her conservative father’s company and needs to remain in the closet.”

“Wow. These days? I thought everyone was embracing their gayness with pride,” I said.

“I can’t say. I’m too much into pussies to think about anything but pussies.” He cocked his head, and my pussy fired up.

He leaned in. “Speaking of which…” He took my hand and started stroking it. “My place or yours?”

“My mother and her boy toy have gone away for a couple of days,” I said. “So how about my place for a change?”

We rode the elevator to my apartment. Chase ran his hands up my legs, and we nearly fell out.

Just as we stumbled through the door into the apartment, I saw Mitch, and “oh” tumbled out of my mouth.

Chase deftly turned his back and pulled up his zipper, while I fumbled with the buttons of my shirt. Foreplay in elevators had increasingly become a favored pastime of ours, despite the occasional nervous giggle and red face.

My mother swanned in with a pot of herbal tea. “Hello, sweetheart.” She smiled at me then at Chase.

After introducing everyone, I turned to my mother. “I thought you were both away.”

“Mitch left his brief behind, and we missed the flight. We’re leaving in the morning.”

“Oh.” Disappointment settled in my belly.

“Why don’t you join us for a tea?” She gestured for Chase to sit.

He shrugged. “Sure. Thanks.”

“I’ve got some vodka in the freezer,” I suggested, knowing that Chase, like me, wasn’t the herbal tea type.

He brushed his hair away from his forehead. “Okay.”

I returned with our drinks, and although I wanted to whisk him upstairs to my room, I found Chase lost in a conversation with Mitch.

“What’s the name of cruise?” he asked, looking genuinely interested.

“Elysium.”

“You must be talking about the Tantra cruise,” I interjected.
