Amber’s laugh warmed him as he wrapped his arm around her shoulder and pulled her close. “Because married people kiss and you can’t kiss with a beard.” He tilted his head to the side. “So, I think you’re gonna have to kiss me more or I’m gonna have to shave.”

“Well, if you insist,” she said and brought her lips to his.

A car pulled into the driveway and Mountain wasn’t sure it was who they were expecting. The town car wasn’t exactly what he imagined the architect would be driving and when a man got out of the driver’s seat and went around to open the back passenger seat door—his heart stopped.

“Fancy,” Amber said. “You sure we can afford this—woman.”

With long legs, stick straight blonde hair and perfectly awful timing, the woman stepped from the car.

“This is the architect you hired?”

“No,” he said, stepping off the porch with Amber’s hand in his. “This is my sister.”

“Björn,” Linnea greeted him, but didn’t reach out. “This is where you’re living?”

“No,” he replied. “Actually I’m living in town, but this is where my club is.”

“Your club, that motorcycle group you’re with?”

“Yes, Linnea why are you here?” he questioned unsure of any reason a Jensen would be west of the Mississippi.

“Ah hem,” Nightingale coughed from behind him.

“Sorry, Linnea Jensen, this is Amber Ferguson,” he said finally remembering his manners. “My, well, did we just get engaged?”

“No,” Nightingale scolded. “But I did take the pressure off of you asking me proper.”

“I’m sorry, what are you then?” Linnea asked, her long manicured fingers curling upward before flipping in the telltale why should I care about you way.

“His Ol’ Lady.” Nightingale beamed with pride and shifted her new leather coat claiming herself as theOwner and Operator of Mountainon the back.

“Ol’ Lady?” Linnea’s mouth hung open a bit. “Right, well I was sent to check on you, Björn.”

“Why?” he questioned a bit uneasy with the whole meet the family he’d left behind going on in the front yard. Especially when Maggie, Camille, and Ruby stepped out to see what was going on. Thank God, most of the men were working and not visiting.

“You pulled money from your trust.”

“I’m allowed to and you’re not supposed to be told when that happens.”

“Oops.” His sister smiled and covered her lips like the big mistake was inevitable.

“Trust?” Amber questioned. “You have a trust?”

It was then she started to put things together. Chauffer driven cars weren’t normal in Turnabout Creek or most of Montana, unless it was prom and even then, it tended to be an older brother driving mom’s minivan.

“She doesn’t know?” Linnea asked finally stepping away from the car and realizing Louboutin’s weren’t the best choice on an unpaved surface as both he and the chauffer had to catch her and help her stand upright.

“What should I know Mountain?” Amber asked once his sister was settled and he stood shaking his head.

It wasn’t like he didn’t think he would have to tell her eventually. The finances would, at some point, needed to be discussed. Maybe even the day when he kept adding features to the home. There were only so many,we can afford itsthat he could say before the woman would question how big was the mortgage he hadn’t even applied for because he was going to pay cash for everything.

“Remember how I said I didn’t care about the money when it came to the gun thing?” he questioned trying not to go into detail with his sister on one side and his woman on the other.

“Yeah.” Amber cocked her head at him.

“You know anything about Connecticut?”

“It’s hard to spell and uses too many letters.” Amber crossed her arms.
