“What does she have?” he asked.

“Not her, Callum, the little kid running the stand last weekend.” Mountain wanted to get the damn letters right. “JDM—JMD—JDR damn I could never be a doc, it’s some kinda arthritis or something.”

“JDM,” Red said leaning back. “We didn’t stay around too long, how was he at the end of the night?”

“Passed out,” Mountain said. “He had a flare recently I guess. A month or so ago.”

“That’s hard,” Red said. “They didn’t fire her for that did they?”

“Not officially,” he said.

“She starts working here I’ll have to review my med order.”

Mountain felt a surge of protectiveness. Did Red really just accuse the woman of pilfering drugs? “Why?”

His snarl was enough to make Red give him questioning glare. “He’s going to need meds I probably don’t have.” Red raised his eyebrow, then scoffed. “You got it so bad, man.”

Okay, maybe he needed to chill the fuck out.

“I have to talk to you about your patch,” Red went on. “We were going to patch you in this weekend at the barbeque, but you know the outcome of that and why nothing was done. Baldy being kept an extra week has thrown us all.”

Mountain gave the man a nod. “Probably hasn’t been glitter and roses for the nurses up in Billings either.”

“Yeah, I might need to buy a few tables and the next fundraising dinner to smooth over his fits,” Red said. “We want to get this shit done with. The only reason you haven’t been patched in is sooner is because you came from the Roadkillers. Didn’t want you to think we didn’t notice all you’ve done.”

Mountain held in his response, tamping down reactions with the Scandinavian skill all the Jensens possessed.

“But you’ve been with us over a year now, and I think you’re pretty damn dependent, more importantly, you’re loyal. So I want you patched in now. Let’s get this done with by the end of the month. I’ve already spoken to the rest of the club and they all agree. When Baldy comes home, there will be a celebration.”

“That’s cool Prez. We don’t have to have anything formal.”

“Hell yes, we do. I’ve already talked with Nova and she’s on board with the other Ol’ Ladies. They will throw you a big party and get you all patched up.” Red stood and reached out his hand.

Mountain took it and they shook hands. “Thanks Red. I really appreciate the consideration.”

“Let Amber know I’ll be calling her about a job.” Red walked with him toward the door.

When they opened it, Hack stood outside with his hand in the air ready to knock. “Hey Prez. I have some information you want to hear.”

“Come on in Hack. I’ll see you soon, Mountain.”

The serious expression on his face might at some point, involve Mountain but he knew it was none of his business for now.

Heading back into the bar area of the clubhouse, he watched others coming in from the town for lunch. It took less than five minutes and he became anxious. Wanting to share the good news he realized he couldn’t wait for tonight to tell Amber about his meeting with Red. With a bit of last minute planning, he could surprise her.
