Epilogue

DAKOTA

“Anotherone?”

My reaction was one of pleasant surprise, in response to another cork being pulled from yet another bottle. Aurelius swept my glass away. He returned it three-quarters the way full with a delicious, blood-red merlot.

“I thought you guys were going fishing in the morning?”

“We are,” said Jace, to the sound of more pouring.

“Not if we keep drinking like this,” I laughed.

We were relaxing in a set of Adirondack chairs, at the edge of a wide, long-reaching dock. The house behind us didn’t belong to us, but it was ours for the week. A beautiful lodge-like rental on Evergreen Lake.

“You don’t worry about us,” Merrick told me. “We’ll be up, even if you aren’t.”

“I won’t be,” I warned.

“Well you’re on vacation my pretty, pretty princess,” smiled Aurelius. “Feel free to sleep as late as you want.”

I let out a happy sigh, just thinking about how amazing it would be. I couldn’t remember the last time I woke up naturally, instead of to an alarm clock.

“What about breakfast?” I asked.

“We’ll take care of that,” said Jace. “You just have hot coffee ready.”

My smile widened as I stared out over the darkening surface of the lake. I’d gotten so used to our schedule at home. To waking up at the crack of dawn to feed the chickens and collect their eggs. I’d learned how to ride too, and there was nothing more satisfying than exploring the length and breadth of the beautiful, rolling hills that made up our property.

Two strong arms slid over my shoulders from behind. They settled against my chest, just as a pair of lips found their way to my neck…

Well,almostnothing.

“Can I get you something, baby?”

Jace’s words were warm and welcoming, his breath hot against my ear. He kissed me some more, right at the nape of my neck, and my whole body erupted in goosebumps.

“Well let’s see,” I murmured. “Breakfast in bed, lunch on the water.” I counted on my fingers as my mind fondly went over the events of the day. “Flowers. Champagne. A spa treatment…”

I slid my hands upward, interlacing my fingers with his. “Haven’t you done enough for me today?” I chuckled.

“Shit, she’s right,” Merrick laughed. “No more for her.”

I put on my best mock-wounded face and looked to Aurelius. My beautiful Greek god was always my go-to. The one lover who would always back me, no matter what.

“I hate to say it, but they’re right,” Aurelius smiled, causing me to open my mouth in shock. He tipped his glass and took a long sip of wine. “Maybe you should be doing stuff forus, tonight.”

I glanced back to where the lights in the house were glowing warmly. Not even an hour ago, the sun had set spectacularly behind the mountains. The purples and indigos were so deep, making the sky so saturated, it looked like a painting instead of real life.

“It’s getting pretty late,” I said. “We were supposed to have gone to dinner by now. But if you boys would rather stay in…”

I shifted in my seat, letting my sundress ride even higher up on my thighs. Three pairs of eyes made their way over the newly-exposed skin.

“Well… I’m pretty sure we could findsomethingto eat.”

I savored their new expressions, laughing inwardly at how quickly and easily I could control the narrative when I wanted to. Yet I couldn’t deny it; the boys often did the same to me. They knew how to damn near hypnotize me by walking around the house with their shirts off, or their boxers pulled down just a little too far in front. Those ‘V’-shaped muscles just below their rippled stomachs always drew me downward, quite often to my knees. I’d ravaged each of them at the drop of a hat, or a pair of underwear, as the case may be.

And myGod. I couldn’t even begin to count the number of times they’d thrown me over their shoulders and carried me off, despoiling me together and alone in every room of our beautiful home. Stretching me out across every soft bed, and every available surface.
