I chuckled. “Yeah.”

“And you’re aware that our parents will probably—”

“I know, I know,” I cut him off. “You don’t have to say it.”

I stepped even closer, slipping my arms past his ribs for a big, brotherly hug. It felt so good, squeezing him tightly. So much better now that there was nothing between us.

“So you don’t think I could kick Jace’s ass, huh?”

“You’d give him a run, maybe,” I lied. “But—”

“Because when we get back to the house, he’s going to expect me to.”

I raised an eyebrow. “And will you?”

“There might be a tackle,” my brother admitted. “A few headlocks, maybe.”

“Tyler!”I growled

In the end, my brother let out a long, deep laugh.

“We’ll see what happens. No guarantees.” His smirk faded a little. “Well, one guarantee anyway.”

“And what’s that?”

“You’re gonna have to blackmail me to keep this from mom and dad.”

My brother suddenly looked very pleased with himself — probably because we’d been blackmailing each other back and forth since we were kids. I punched him in the arm.

“Alright,” I conceded. “What’s it going to cost methistime?”

My big brother looked down at me, then scratched his chin and smiled.

“Don’t worry. I’ll think of something.”
