“I was an idiot,” Jace went on. “I really should’ve kissed you.”

My heart was beating faster now. I shrugged one shoulder.

“Yeah, well when opportunity knocks, you have to let it in.”

Our bodies touched. His eyes searched mine.

“Opportunity, huh?”

“Yes,” I agreed. “Opportun—”

Jace’s lips came crashing against mine, rolling softly but firmly as an all-consuming heat washed over us. This time we went for broke. There was no one to stop us, no one to tell us what we were doing was wrong. As far as everyone knew we were husband and wife, reunited at last after a long, desperate tour of duty.

HOLY FUCK.

Our tongues continued to surge, sliding hotly into each other’s mouths as our kiss melted the rest of the world away. Everyone around us was gone in an instant; replaced by the all-consuming need to mold our bodies tightly together and devour each other, even as our hands continued to roam. Suddenly I was back in the pool again: breathless, weightless, deliriously happy. Floating in the warmth and wetness of that hot summer night, my bare legs wrapped around his long, lithe body.

Jace broke the kiss still cradling my face in his two big hands, the tips of his fingers lingering affectionately on my cheeks. As he finally pulled back we tilted forward again, so that our foreheads touched.

“Holy shit youwerean idiot!” I gasped when I could speak again.

“Oh yeah?” he chuckled. “How do you figure?”

I brought my face back to his, hovering my lips over his mouth until every breath he took was mine.

“Because we could’ve been kissing like this all these years,” I said, and kissed him again.
