"Partly. There are a lot of reasons why I let him walk out. Ones I'm not sure anyone else will ever understand."

"He didn't deserve to be spared," Tim barks, startling Fawn, who's sitting beside him. When I sent out my request for this impromptu meeting after Mia fell asleep last night, I made it abundantly clear that it was to involve all of us. I was done with leaving the girls out of all the decision making.

"Maybe not. But in that moment, I made a decision, and I stand by it."

I pull her into my side and drop a kiss to the top of her head. I'm so fucking proud of her and utterly in awe of her strength.

"So what’s next?" Brandon asks.

"I've got some plans. But I guess the biggest question is…" A ripple of anticipation rolls through the room. "Are you guys with us?"

"Us?"

I thread my fingers through Mia's and lift our joined hands. "Us. Things are changing, boys. You ready to drag Q properly into the twenty-first century?"

"Hell yes," Brandon and Tim say simultaneously as the others also agree.

"Okay, so this is what I'm taking to Phillip."

I lay out my plans for how I see the future of both Q, the Electi and Gravestone while Mulligan appears from out of nowhere to make us all breakfast.

After we’re done, we climb into our cars, all swinging by the hospital to visit a still-sleeping Channing on the way to the Cargill’s house.

Sasha put up one hell of a fight about leaving Channing's side, just as we suspected, but eventually, and with Ashton promising not to move from the chair beside him, she finally conceded and followed us out.

"You sure about this?" Tim asks as we follow the girls out of the hospital.

"Hell yeah, I am. Aren't you?"

"To stop hiding Fawn like she's something to be ashamed of, fuck yeah. I just have no idea how you're going to get Phillip onside."

"We're the future, Tim. He doesn't have a lot of choice. Plus, I've still got a gun in my pants. Pretty sure I could do a better job on him than Kingsley," I deadpan, only half serious.

"Let's hope it doesn't come to that."

"It won't," I say confidently.

Silence falls between us as we make our way to the cars.

"Are you ready to change the future?" Mia asks me, draping her arms over my shoulders.

"I'm so ready, baby."

"Ready to take over the world?"

"With you by my side,” I wink at her, “hell yeah."

We’re greeted by Phillip’s security men and ushered inside. The Cargill’s house is a huge gated property, equipped with state-of-the-art security cameras that follow us as we approach the front door.

“Mr. Cargill will see you in the study,” an older lady with a round face and graying hair says, motioning for us to follow her.

“She does know you live here, right?” I whisper to Sasha, who chuckles.

“Don’t mind Hannah. She likes to treat everyone like a guest.”
