"You called?" she asks Mia.

"Yes, please can you tell Bexley to leave. Get security if you have to."

My chin drops at her words.

The nurse turns to me, but I don't let her get a word out before I spin on my heels and march toward the door, swinging it open with everything I have and wincing when it slams back against the wall.

The sound of Mia's sobs rips through me, but it doesn't make me stop. Nor does Sasha and Channing calling my name as I race past them.

Now I've walked away, I need to get as far away from this place as possible.

"Bex, wait." Their voices echo down the empty corridor as I head for the exit, in desperate need of fresh air.

I burst through the doors and suck in deep lungfuls of fall air as I look around at my surroundings. Gravestone Hospital sits on a hill right on the edge of the forest, the lake sparkling in the distance making this place seem serene and peaceful. Two of the many lies that are hidden by the beauty in this town.

"What happened?" Sasha asks softly, coming to stand beside me as I stare out at the forest, taking in the changing colors of the leaves.

"She doesn't want me here."

"She doesn't know what she wants right now, Bex. Don't take it personally. She's just had her world turned upside down.

"I can't just leave her here alone. What if—"

"Q have security all over the building. No one is going to get to her."

"I'm sorry, Sash, but that doesn't fill me with any confidence. I hate to say it, but he's smarter than all of them. If he wants to get to her, then he will."

I stare at her for a beat, and I see my own fear reflected back at me in her eyes.

"Fuck this," I bark, storming past her.

"Bex, where are you—"

"I'm going to fix this," I call over my shoulder as I pass Channing, who was watching us by the exit.

"And how are you going to do that exactly?"

"I… I'll figure it out," I spit, not really having an answer to his question. "Stay here, both of you, and don't let anyone get to her."

"She's safe here, Eas—"

Spinning, I pin him with a look that will ensure he doesn't argue. "Stay the fuck with her."

"Okay, fine," he concedes, holding his hands up in surrender.

The second I drop into my car, I start the engine and wheelspin out of the parking lot, heading for the town hall.

"Excuse me, sir. You can't—" The security guard’s warning falls on deaf ears as I storm past him and take the stairs two at a time that lead to the office where I hope I'll find Phillip Cargill.

"Mr. Easton, you can't just—" I swing the door to his office open after ignoring his second lot of security and his assistant, who mostly just stare at me with wide eyes as I race through her office.

"Easton," Phillip says in surprise, standing from his desk as I slam the door closed.

But I soon realize that he's not the only one here, because another man stands.

"M-Marcus?" I stutter, staring at my grandfather.
