I hold my hand out. She hesitantly takes it and allows me to pull her inside.I lock the door behind us and make sure she sees me do it before leading her to the back of the cabin to the impressive master bathroom.

"Bexley?" she breathes as I close the door behind us.

"You looked cold. I thought I could warm you up," I say, taking a step toward her and lifting my hands to cup her face.

Her cheeks are cold, but this time when she shivers, I know it's not because of the temperature because I feel it too, the connection that's always been between us.

"I love you, Mia," I say, dropping my head to hers. "Let me be what you need right now. Let me take care of you."

She nods, her eyes quickly filling with tears.

I drop a quick kiss to her lips before pulling away, knowing that if I allow myself any more then my good intentions will fly straight out of the window and I'll end up bending her over the counter instead of giving her the relaxation she's so desperate for.

Taking a step back from her, I spin around and turn the faucet on. Popping the top of the expensive-looking bottle on the edge of the bath, I pour the creamy liquid into the powerful stream of water and watch as white foam explodes across the top of the water and the scent of vanilla fills the air around me.

"You're running me a bath?" she whispers behind me, as if it's not entirely obvious.

"No, baby. I'm running us a bath. You can't possibly get in a tub this big alone. It was made for two." I smirk.

"I think you're right." She's pulling off her clothes before she's even finished talking, and I'm still standing there, completely captivated by her beautiful body when she steps into the growing bubbles.

"D-don't get that wet." I nod to the bandage covering her wound.

"I'm sure it won't make it any worse," she mutters sadly.

"I need it to heal as soon as possible." Her eyes find mine, her brows pulled together in confusion. "I've got a plan, a surprise."

"Oh?"

"One that I'm not telling you about."

I pull my shirt over my head, and thankfully it's enough to distract her and stop her from questioning me.

The water burns my feet as I step in behind her, making me wonder just how numb she is that she didn't so much as flinch as she lowered her body into the scalding water.

Ignoring the burn, I sink down behind her and pull her back, so she's laid against me, wrapping my arms around her waist.

Silence falls around us. Only the sound of the popping bubbles can be heard as we lay together.

"This is how it should be," I finally whisper. "Just me and you."

"Umm…" she murmurs, turning her head into my chest. "I feel like we missed out on so much. We've never even been on a date."

"Maybe we'll just have to do everything backward."

"You really do want to get married, don't you?" she deadpans.

"I didn't mean that backward. When this is all over, Mia, I'm going to take you on the best date ever. It will blow everything you've ever seen in movies or read in books out of the fucking water."

Her hands run down my arms around her waist. "I don't need all of that."

"I know. But that's not why I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it because it's the least of what you deserve."

"What do you want for your future?" she asks me quietly.

"You."

"No, I mean for your life. Your job. Your… future outside of us."
