“What are you doing?”

“Just in case,” he said. “They don’t expire for five years. This isn’t the last time we’ll be doing it.”

“You’re so sure.”

“I’m sure. I have a feeling we’re going to be candidates for a remake of Cheaper by the Dozen.”

“You’re nuts,” I said, shaking my head.

But I thought about what he’d said, and it was true! I wanted a huge family with Will. If Lisa could fit four kids in her cottage, along with as many nieces and nephews, I could do it, too.

“I’m right, aren’t I?” he exclaimed. “We’re going to have a big family, right?”

I hugged him, suddenly sure that he was on to something, that we were on the right path together. “Yes, my love, you’re right! Let’s get home and do this thing. I’m so ready.”

“Me, too. I just hope it’s positive!”

“Oh, man. Me, too.”

He stopped walking, pulling me close to him again. “You know I love you, Laura.”

“I know you do, and I love you, too.”

He grabbed my free hand, and we pushed the cart to the front of the store, ready to embark on an adventure of a lifetime.

The End
