“Chad. I don’t know his last name.”

She looked at me incredulously. “Chad? Did he look like a weasel?”

Thinking back to that morning, I nodded. “Actually, yeah.”

“Motherfuckers.” Luna shook her head. There was a knock at her door, and without hesitation, she yelled, “It’s open!”

Justin walked in and smiled when he saw me. “Hey, Temperance! You made it.”

“Boys are allowed in the girls’ dorms?” I asked. “Not that I’m complaining. I’m glad to see you, too!”

He shrugged. “I’m not usually one to throw this around, but when you have my last name, you can do pretty much whatever you want around here.” His expression looked bored, like he didn’t exactly like that fact, but from what Luna just said, I knew it wasn’t enough that he would stop himself from using the benefits. Much like Javier and his magical ability to get out of any ticket.

Turning back to Luna, I said, “Why did you say, ‘motherfuckers’ a minute ago?”

Without looking up, Luna replied, but it was to Justin instead. “Hey, that fight she got in this morning with the demon. Guess what it was over.”

Justin looked from me to her as he took a seat next to my backpack and clothing. “I don’t know. It’s Wolfe. What reason is therenotto kick his ass?”

“Apparently, she saw them bullyingChad.”

His eyes widened as he looked from her to me. “Motherfuckers.”

“Okay, seriously. What’s going on?” I asked.

Luna pulled one of my white shirts inside out. “Stand,” she ordered. “Take off your shirt. I need an accurate measurement.” I looked over at Justin and back at her, and she smiled. “Nobody’s tits sit that high when they’re that big, so I know you’re wearing a bra. You ever wear a bikini?” I nodded. “There ya go. If you can wear a bikini top at a public pool or beach, a bra is no different. Don’t let society tell you otherwise.”

Justin shrugged. “They’re boobs. I’ve seen plenty, not that yours aren’t nice. I’m sure they’re great, but I’m not a perv. Unless you’re hitting on me, I don’t care to notice.”

Luna made a good point, and I didn’t get the weirdo vibe from Justin at all. Especially since he was already scrolling along on his phone and paying no attention. “Well, I guess it’s not the weirdest thing that’s happened to me today.”

“That’s the spirit,” Luna said as I stripped off my shirt.

She handed me the inside-out white button-up, and I put it on and buttoned it. I wanted to remind her of my question, but she started talking again as she pinched the sides of the shirt and pinned it for measurements.

“The reason we both had that reaction is because dear oldChadis Damian’s resident bitch boy.”

Justin looked up, and I noticed his eyes were respectfully on my face. He didn’t act bothered at all. He really was comfortable to be around. “If you’re wondering what that means,” he started. “It means that Chad would absolutelynevercross Damian. Chad knows Wolfe would end him.”

I shook my head and took off the shirt again for Luna to begin sewing. “No, they were arguing over some girl. Damian and Asher said Chad had gone after some girl.”

“No, he didn’t,” Justin answered automatically before looking back down at his phone. “Trust me. This whole thing smells fishy to me.”

As soon as he said that, the whole thing hit me like a brick. I’d just seen Harper before that when I came out of my apartment. I’d even pissed her off. She’d gone ahead of me, and I’d mentioned skipping breakfast. She’d pulled her phone from her pocket on the way to the elevator and everything. Damian had mentioned me being ajobto him not once, but twice, and when I’d asked if it was Harper, he hadn’t denied it.

“Motherfuckers,” I said.

“Ah, now she gets it,” Luna said. “You figure something out?”

I told them what happened that morning from the time I left my room until the fight started, as well as how Damian had called me ajob.

Justin continued to scroll along as he spoke. “If you weren’t going to breakfast, it’s pretty safe to assume you’d be heading off to find your locker or classes first. It’s your first day. Any halfwit could put those pieces together because it’s an obvious choice since you don’t know your way around and would want to be on time. And with your last name being Wilder, your locker would be close to Damian’s. That means they knew exactly where you’d be and a rough estimate of when since Harper had just seen you. All they needed was someone to play along, and who better than their resident bitch boy?”

“Fuuuckme,” I said, my head falling back. “I should have known. I should have fucking known.”

“Don’t feel bad,” Justin said. “At least you know now.”

“What are you going to do?” Luna asked. “What happened with the rest of it? Did you and Damian make up? Because, according to everyone at school, you fucked him today.”
