I cried out and did the only thing I could think of. With the way he was standing at my side, I had a rough idea where his feet were, but I knew almost exactly where his dick was. I brought my fist up to my chest and punched downward and out to the side as hard as I could at that angle. He choked and let go of my hair as I made contact.

Spinning, I kicked him hard in the shin and raked my platform boot down the sensitive bone, causing him to scream out and hit the ground. Once he was down, I kneed him in the side of the face and sent him sprawling back on the ground, groaning.

“You bitch!”

He fumbled around like he was going to get up, and I ran forward and kicked him hard under the chin. I heard a disgusting crunch—I wasn’t sure if it was his jawbone or his teeth, but it sounded painful. When he collapsed all the way back, his head smacked the pavement hard. His eyes rolled around and fluttered closed.

I breathed hard as the adrenaline flowed through me. Walking around to stand by his head—so if he grabbed for me, it would be clumsy—I reached down to check his pulse and breathing under his nose. Everything seemed fine, so I backed away. That wasn’t the cleanest fight I’d ever been in. Definitely not my proudest moment, but it was real. Fighting on a mat and fighting in real life was totally different. Plus, it had been a long time since I’d sparred and been in classes.

Maybe I should fix that…

He groaned, and his eyes started to open again as he reached for the back of his head, his other hand covering his mouth. It must have been his teeth I’d heard break.

I stood just out of reach, glaring down at him with my arms crossed over my chest as I planned to go inside. “I warned you, you little shit stain. Don’tevertouch me or any woman like that again. No means fucking no, you entitled, egomaniacal, spoiled, little limp dick piece of fucking shit. Come near me again, and I’ll fucking kill you. Do you understand me?”

Wow!I hadnoidea where that came from, but Ilikedit.

I turned to head back inside and get some bandages for my hand when a shooting pain split through my head, and I landed hard on the ground. Everything went black, but for how long, I didn’t know.

A few seconds?

A few minutes?

I had no way of knowing.

Suddenly, as the darkness grew lighter, warm hands appeared on my face. My head was cradled on something soft while those hands stroked my face and through my hair. I heard grunting and painful, masculine screams. Something heavy hit the ground a few feet away from me, and my eyes shot open.

Everything was blurry, and the world spun around me, but I could distinctly make out three bodies on the ground, and three more standing over them.

“Shh, it’s okay,” a soft voice said.

Luna… That’s Luna.

“You’re safe,” she said as she ran her fingers through my hair again.

“Wh-what?” I managed to choke out.

“Justin went to look for you. He saw you unconscious on the ground with Eric and two of his buddies standing over you. He ran and got Damian and Asher. The three of them are taking care of it.”

I narrowed my eyes, trying to focus, but the pain was too much. My head hurt like hell. I couldn’t truly see, but I knew Luna wouldn’t be so calm if the three figures standing over the other three weren’t Damian, Asher, and Justin.

They saved me?Damiansaved me?

Why?

“Youeverfucking come near her again, and Iwillrip you to pieces, Hunt,” Damian spat. I could hear the cold-blooded warning in his voice. I couldn’t see the damage they’d done, but I had a feeling it was rough.

“Temperance is off limits,” Asher said. “I swear to fuck, if I even get wind you havebreathedin her fucking direction, the three of us will come back, and we’ll finish what we started here tonight.”

“I, alone, have the resources to make your body disappear,” Justin said, his voice disturbingly calm and dangerous. I watched as a form knelt next to the others, and I wished I could see better. When the form spoke again, I knew it was Justin. “Imagine what all three of us could do. Your body will be dispersed between every continent on the goddamned planet. Your poor mother will need a fucking treasure map and a magnifying glass to find the pieces to give you a proper funeral. Do you understand?”

Okay, maybe heismy grey knight in shining armor. Luna was right—he has a dark side.

“Y-yes.”

Holy hell. I barely recognized Eric’s voice as he forced it out. It was at least an octave higher and sounded pained and barely there.

Justin rose, and he turned toward me. I tried to look up, but I couldn’t. I was just so sleepy.
