“And what were your findings?” he asked, his voice dark and playful as his hand squeezed me.

“First, that I could control myself. I stopped—even though Ireallydidn’t want to.” I turned, and he let me go. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and he wrapped his around my back. “As for the other…” I rose to my tiptoes, and he lowered. I placed my lips against his ear. “You taste even fucking better than I imagined.”

He growled and pulled away. “Oh, you’ll pay for that, Temperance.”

“I’ve noticed when you’re turned on, my name is Temperance. Any other time, it’s Tempe.”

He smiled. “Then I guess that’s my tell with you. You’ll always know what I’m thinking by the name I call you.”

A large smile split my face, and I started to turn toward the door, but he stopped me again.

“No. You’re not going anywhere until you put a skirt on.”

“Excuse me?” I said as I turned my head toward him.

“You heard me. You wanted to torture me so badly for your littlescienceexperiment. You didn’t think of the repercussions. Tit for tat,Temperance.Skirt.Now.” Without another word, he walked out of the room and left me to change.

Ireallydidn’t want to wear a skirt, but I wasfartoo tempted to see what he’d do. With Damian and Asher, I felt like I was wild and out of control, but Justin was different. Maybe it was because I was so comfortable with him.

Maybe I was wrong… Maybe Icouldhave something with Justin.

I’d just have to find a way to leave Damian and Asher aside, and I wasn’t ready for that yet. Mostly because I didn’t have a clue how.

After changing, I walked into the living room. I kept the same tank top and changed into a pleated black skirt with white thigh-high socks with black rings and black knee-high platforms. I’d wanted to wear my Nikes, but tennis shoes with skirts wasn’t my favorite, so that only left one option.

“Mmm. Yum.” Justin stood from the couch and walked to the door, and I followed, grabbing my bag with the checks on the way. His hand rested on the doorknob as he leaned over, his lips placing a small kiss on my ear. “You look good enough to eat,Temperance.”

I gasped, and he pulled away, opening the door. His free hand gently pressed on my lower back, guiding me into the hallway before he followed me out. I locked up with shaky hands, and when I turned, he smirked at me.

“You okay? You seem a little jittery,” he said.

I shook my head. “You’re terrible, you know that?”

He moaned. “You havenoidea.”

The sounds he made drove me insane. They would haunt my dreams in the most delicious of ways. We exited the building and headed toward my car. He pointed off to the right.

“Wanna take mine?” he asked.

“What do you drive?” I asked.

“Lykan HyperSport.”

I nearly choked. “That’s a $3.5million-dollar car.

He nodded. “And funny story… You could pay cash for one—today, if you wanted—and still have two and a half million left.”

“I probably have to pay taxes on that, you know. I wasn’t the beneficiary, so it was a gift. At least, I think. I don’t fucking know. None of it makes any damn sense.” I suddenly stopped in my tracks. “I have sixmilliondollars.” My voice came out monotone, but the weight of his words had settled on me.What the fuck is happening?

I still had no idea where the five million came from. I’d asked the estate lawyer, and he said it was from an investor of my father’s business. The check had been sent to him to pass on to me with the others. When I’d told him my father didn’thavea business, he kindly let me know my father did, indeed, have an LLC in his name as well as my mother’s name.

However, the business name was confidential as per my father’s wishes. It wasn’t left to me, so it was none of my business, I guess. The lawyer didn’t go into great detail because my father had a lot going on and apparently wanted me to know exactlynothing—plus, I wouldn’t have understood it, anyway—but he gave me general information.

An investor took out a $2.5 million dollar policy on both my mother as well as my father, naming the investor as the sole beneficiary. He said that would have been tricky to do, especially in a place like Indiana, but they managed to do it. I got the feeling he knew alotmore than he was letting on, but with all the other insane information I’d received since my parents’ deaths, I wasn’t sure I wanted to know. I didn’t even know how the money got rerouted to me once the beneficiary got it.

Or why…

The whole thing was fucked up and freaked me out. What the hell were my parents involved in? Did Ireallywant to walk down that road? Did Ireallywant to figure it out?
