Andrea

Excitement runs through my body. I have a few ideas of what might be happening today, but with Daniel, you never know.

"So, at last check, you had two more things to cross off your list. Winona's star and the giant rubber duck. I know at least one of those things we can accomplish today."

"Oh my God, are we going to Winona Ryder's star?" I bounce in my seat.

"Okay, you must tell me the story behind this obsession with the actress."

"Beetlejuicewas the first movie my parents took us to in the theater. My parents thought it might be too scary when I was five, but my sister and I said we were fine. We had nightmares for weeks, but I fell in love with Lydia, Winona's character. I wanted to see ghosts like she did, just not the ones who looked like Beetlejuice. Now, it's my favorite movie. And anything she's done since then has been absolutely genius."

"You know, I've met her, right?"

"You what?" My shriek is louder than I expect.

"I consulted with the artist doing temporary tattoos for one of her movies. She's one of the most down-to-earth people."

“I kinda hate you right now,” I tease. “I am insanely jealous.”

Thanks to the famous L.A. traffic, it takes us close to an hour to drive from Venice to Hollywood. Daniel finds a parking spot close to Winona Ryder's Hollywood star. "Is it silly that this picture is on my revival list?"

"Sometimes, as adults, we need to do silly things to keep ourselves young. If you want a picture with Winona's start, then that's what we will get you."

"Thank you." I lean over and kiss his cheek.

It only takes ten minutes to find her star and take a picture. When the moment's over, the experience is much less eventful than I pictured in my head. "I guess that's it." I shrug.

"No. We need to get something epic. We'll bring up a picture of Winona Ryder on mine and take the picture with yours." Daniel starts positioning me in goofy poses all over the star. "Sit here on the left side of the star and look at my phone screen."

"Hi, Andrea," Winona Ryder says from the screen.

I gasp and nearly drop the phone.

She laughs as I try to compose myself.

"Is this real? Are you live?" I stammer.

"This is, and I am. Rome told me what a big fan you are and asked if I would call and wish you a happy birthday."

"Thank you so much. You are the most incredible actress. I love you so much,” I gush, forcing myself to stop before I word-vomit all over her.

"You're so sweet. I hope you have a great fortieth birthday. Send Rome my love."

The phone call ends, leaving me stunned, frozen, and staring at his lock screen. "Did that just happen?"

"It did. Happy early birthday, dollface." Daniel grabs my hand, pulling me up from the ground. "I told you I'd make anything happen to see you smile like this. I love your smile. I’m sorry we have to celebrate your day early. Who would have ever imagined the trial would fall on your birthday?"

"Thank you. I seriously don't think I've ever had a better birthday present." I push up onto my tiptoes and kiss him.

"Oh, just wait. The day has just begun. Are you ready for the next stop?" he asks.

"I don't know." I giggle, still pinching myself to see if that actually just happened. I freeze, then swivel toward him. “Did you record that?”

He laughs and hands me back my phone. “Of course I did.”

Phew. "Do you really think you can top a live chat with Winona Ryder?"

"I think I can. Are you ready to go pick up our babies?" he asks.
