“Are you scared of retaliation?”

I laughed, throwing her a look. Even in the darkness, rain pelting down against her, she was perhaps the most gorgeous woman I’d laid eyes on. “Do as I say, printsessa. I’m not the kind of man you want to cross.”

“Oh, that terrifies me.”

Her insolence and refusal to understand who she was challenging should annoy me. Instead, I had a need to peel away her layers, finding out exactly what made her tick.

At least she obeyed me as I headed toward my car, flicking the unlock button when we were within twenty feet. I opened the passenger door, taking a few seconds to scan the perimeter. I wouldn’t put it past the senator to send the four men he’d hired as security after me. They were pinheads, easy to identify. They were also incapable of bringing me to my knees.

No man could.

When she was safely in the seat, I fastened the belt then leaned in. “Don’t get any wild ideas, printsessa. You won’t like me when I get angry.”

“Who says I like you now?”

The woman had a way of making me smile. If I were any other man, even my brothers, I’d take her to my house, spending hours exploring every inch of her body.

But I wasn’t that man.

At least not yet.

Although I continued to have visions that should trouble me. I had no business tempting fate. There were far too many issues the family had to deal with, including recent DEA activity. They’d gotten wind of an arms deal currently in progress. While they’d always been a deterrent, they’d never become an insurmountable problem until recently. Dealing with them would require my full attention, which precluded wasting time on indulging in my proclivities, no matter how enticing they were.

Yet the visions continued, vivid images of what I would do if I had her behind locked doors. I could envision her lush body lying naked on my bed, her long hair splayed out across my pillow, framing her porcelain skin. I could imagine feasting on her luscious pussy, bringing her to new heights of pleasure. The single moan she’d issued remained in my mind, the soft lilt still driving me crazy. She had no idea just how close I was to losing control.

When I climbed into the car, I expected her to attack me, but she remained quiet, staring out the windshield. I started the engine, wasting no time roaring away from the parking spot, loathing the fact my father had asked me to attend. I’d learned nothing of use, the two hours spent a waste of time.

At least the single taste of my companion had provided some relief to the drudgery. As soon as I drove off the estate grounds, she murmured something under her breath. “Do you have something to say to me?”

She laughed. “You wouldn’t like to hear what I have to say.”

“Try me.”

“Whatever you were doing at the senator’s house wasn’t about pledging funds to his campaign. Was it? My guess is that you’re a lowlife criminal who decided to impose on his party, threatening him to stay in line.”

Her words were terse, pointed. And it sounded as if she had some understanding of the way things worked in my world. “Does it bother you that I handle business in the darkness?”

“What bothers me is that you expect everyone to follow your orders. That’s not going to happen with me.”

I pulled the car to a stop, allowing the engine to idle. “Would you prefer walking from here?” The girl was debating my offer. One day her spunk would get her killed.

“You can take me home. It’s not that far from here.”

“Then by all means, show me the way to your glass house.”

“You have a high opinion of yourself, don’t you?”

My turn to laugh. “I know what I’m capable of. That’s all that matters.”

“You’re repulsive.”

Her determination to goad me only enticed me more. I kept my hands on the steering wheel, yet I wanted nothing more than to slide my fingers under her dress, finding the prize that should be mine. I always took what I wanted and right now, I wanted her surrendering to my needs, her lithe body writhing underneath me as I drove my cock so deep inside that she screamed out my name.

“You’d be surprised how accurate your statement is. Where do you live?”

The spitfire of a woman guided me into a section of Long Island I knew far too well, my father holding court in an estate he’d owned since arriving in the states. She was one of the upper crust members of society, her parents likely tight with the senator’s clan. Perhaps she’d learned something by playing with a bad boy if only for a few minutes.

“Over there,” she muttered, pointing out the windshield.
