“You know what I’ve told you about fair.” To prove a point, I shoved her against the shower wall, bringing my palm down several times, moving from one side to the other. She wiggled in my hold, pressing her hands against the marble as her breathing became even more rapid.

“That hurts.”

Everything about her was enticing, especially the sound of her voice. “I’m not going to stop until you promise me that you will stay out of anything that occurs with the police.”

“No. That’s my world.”

I smacked her several more times, issuing a husky growl as the heat from her reddened bottom resonated all the way to the tips of my fingers. I was so aroused a haze had formed over my eyes, my need increasing exponentially. But I continued the spanking, bringing my hand down in rapid succession.

“Fine. Fine!” she whined, gasping for air. “I won’t interfere.”

After doling out four more, I pulled her around to face me. “I can’t lose you, Stephanie. I won’t allow that to happen. Not now. Not ever.”

“I’m not going anywhere.”

As I crushed my mouth over hers, I eased my hand under her bottom, lifting her off the marble then driving my cock into her tight channel. There was nothing like the feel of her warm pussy as I thrust hard and deep.

In those incredible moments of passion, we were as one, something I’d never wanted, had considered weak and laughed at in other men.

And now, I couldn’t imagine a single day without her in my life.

God help anyone who dared try to break us apart.

CHAPTER17

Alexei

“The police are on their way,” Bradley stated after ending his call.

I heard my attorney’s declaration but remained staring out the window of my office. I’d taken a risk returning to my house, but I’d already realized that even with all the security measures, armed men guarding every inch of our organization, it was still possible any one of Volkov’s soldiers or the Ghost could manage to find a way to hunt down one or all of us. I certainly didn’t plan on living my life as prisoner in my own space.

As I remained quiet, Bradley moved closer, flanking my side. “You will be arrested. I’ve arranged for a bail hearing later today, but it’s not with one of our usual judges.” Bradley Walker had been the family’s attorney for fifteen years. He was arrogant as fuck, a man who used threats just as easily as any member of the family and couldn’t care less about his oath to a system he stated more than once was in need of a total overhaul.

He irritated the hell out of me.

“Judge Markham,” Stephanie said from across the room.

I turned to eye her, concerned she’d said nothing since we’d entered this room over an hour before.

“Yes,” Bradley said. “Do you know him?”

“Very well,” she commented. “I’ve been in his courtroom dozens of times. He’s a bear but he’s also a fair judge. At least I’ve found him to be that way. He’s a good man.”

Bradley snorted. “I’m sorry to burst your bubble, Ms. Morgan, but the judge has issues of his own that preclude him from being labeled a good man.”

She turned to face him, and I was delighted with the rebellious look she gave the man. Even with my family in the room, she refused to be intimidated in the least. “Let me guess. He’s on the take with another crime syndicate. Or perhaps he has a handful of underage girls he locks in a cage. Then again, maybe he has a gambling addiction, so he assassinates people in his off time in order to pay off his loan shark.”

I couldn’t help but grin. “Be careful with her, Bradley. Not only is the lovely Ms. Morgan formidable, given she’s a protective lioness, she eats her enemies for breakfast.”

Stephanie slowly turned her head. “This isn’t a joking matter. You will be crucified unless additional evidence can be found. It’s quite possible given the notoriety of this crime that you won’t receive bail.”

“Nonsense,” Bradley huffed. “I’ve never allowed that to happen. Forgive me, Ms. Morgan, but you haven’t practiced law for as many years as I have.”

“That may be true, Mr. Walker, but I’ve been around law enforcement my entire life. My father was a detective. He instilled a love of the law into me as a little girl.”

I thought about what she’d told me about her parents. They’d been killed in an accident. I gave Kirill a quick look and he understood exactly what I was telling him to do. Find out everything about her father.

“That’s good to hear, Ms. Morgan, but as I said, I have this under control,” Bradley assured her.
