Lucas laughs. “It so totally is.”

“Well, why don’t you try reading your work at a poetry slam. The Coffee Shop has one every Thursday I think. We can go this week!”

Lucas frowns. “I don’t know, Rachel.”

“Ok, maybe not this week. But we can go the week after. Or the week after that.”

Lucas laughs.

“Have either of you seen Hunter?”

I turn, finding a worried Seth standing near us. He’s not looking at us though. His gaze is fixed to the dancers in the middle of the room, but I don’t see Hunter there. In fact, I haven’t seen him in what seems like hours.

I grab my phone from my back pocket. My eyes snap open at the time, seeing that it’s nearly two in the morning and I have an early class to get my butt to in about seven hours. We’ve been here for at least four hours and during that time, I haven’t seen Hunter show his face at all.

“No,” I say while pulling away from the wall, worry spreading through me.

“We should find him,” says Seth. “I know he has football practice early in the morning tomorrow.”

Lucas nods while leading the way out of the living room. “Have you looked in the kitchen?”

“Yeah, he’s not there. He’s not in the line for the bathroom. I know he isn’t in the bathroom.” Seth nods towards the staircase. “I’m wondering-”

I scowl and clench my jaw, not wanting to think why Hunter is upstairs in one of the bedrooms. I haven’t seen Millie in forever, as well. Stomping up the stairs I try to push my anger away, which is proving to be quite difficult. I can’t help but imagining the two of them together. We just made love earlier today. Does he really need to get his rocks off again?

I open one of the doors, finding a couple I have never met in my life making out while pulling at each other’s clothes. They quickly turn to me, the girl’s eyes widening while the guy shouts, “Can’t we get some privacy?”

I slam the door shut. Well, Hunter isn’t in there.

I turn to the next door, opening it and finding an empty office with stacks of papers on the desk and books stacked on shelves.

“Found him!” I hear Seth shout and turn around to the room across from me.

I stalk inside, expecting to find a naked Hunter and Millie, but instead discover Hunter completely passed out on a couch with Millie hovering above him, like a cougar about to pounce.

“Get away from him!” I shout while stalking towards Millie. I shove her away and caress Hunter’s face. His eyes are closed, but there’s an eerie smile on his lips.

“I wasn’t doing anything,” I hear Millie say, but at this point I don’t care.

“We need to get him home,” I say.

I watch as Lucas and Seth grab his arms and pull him up from the couch. I pat Hunter’s cheeks, hoping to jar him awake. He giggles while his head slumps forward. His chin digs into his chest and drool dribbles down to his shirt.

“Hunter, are you alright?” I whisper while stroking his jaw.

“I’m fine,” he giggles with his eyes still shut.

I look up at Seth and Lucas. Their expressions mirror mine; filled with worry and concern. “We’re taking you home,” I say while Lucas and Seth help him up.

“He said he’s fine,” says Millie.

I scowl at her, about to smack her, but knowing it would solve nothing. “He is not fine,” I say lowly. “He’s the opposite of fine.”

Millie scoffs and rolls her eyes. “Whatever.”

I want to yell at her but what good would it do? Millie’s selfish and only cares about one thing: herself.

“Yeah, whatever, Millie,” I mutter while holding the door open for the boys.
