Hunter’s feet aren’t able to balance and keep sliding against the floor. His head lolls from side to side while Seth and Lucas struggle to carry him down the stairs. Stares follow us as we help Hunter out of the house, but even when we are on our way towards our apartment, I can’t help the worry tensing my shoulders.

“Is he going to be okay?” I ask as we walk through the freezing cold.

“He’ll be fine,” says Seth easily. He glances at me and gives me a bright smile, but I can see the fear in his eyes. “He just drank too much.”

“Again,” Lucas mutters.

“He just needs a bit of sleep and he should be good to go,” says Seth.

Hunter bursts into a fit of laughter. “Sleep,” he says and then continues laughing.

I sniff and try to keep myself from crying.

What happened to the Hunter I know?
