“Rachel?” Lucas calls, but I ignore him as I continue pacing, coming up with a plan of action.

I won’t let Josh do this. I won’t allow him to hurt someone else.

“Rachel?” Seth calls, but I ignore him, as well.

“Rachel, stop.” Hunter grabs my shoulders, his face filling my vision.

“There has to be something we can do,” I whisper, feeling my face contort as I stifle a sob threatening to surface.

Hunter pulls me into a hug and I ignore the pain in my cheek as I nuzzle my face against his chest. His hand strokes up and down my back as he shushes me. My shoulders shake as I swallow another sob. “There must be something we can do,” I whimper.

“Do you know where she lives?” I hear Lucas ask.

I pull away from Hunter and shake my head.

“Do you know anyone who might know?” Alex asks.

I try to think, but my head aches from the crying. Charlie and Lauren were friends before I met them. Maybe Lauren didn’t move from last year. She could have sublet her apartment until she returned from Paris.

“Charlie,” I whisper, my feet taking me to my bedroom.

I hear the bros following after me as I enter my room. I feel them watching me while I dig through my purse until I find my phone. I find Charlie’s number quickly, dialing it rather than texting. This is an emergency. I need an immediate response. I grimace, thinking of the time, but it doesn’t matter. Lauren needs our help.

“Hello?” Charlie’s voice comes on the receiving end, sounding sleepy. I must have woken her up.

“Do you know where Lauren lives?”

“Rachel?” I hear Charlie groan and some fumbling. “What’s going on?”

Tears stream down my cheeks as I say, “Josh almost raped Lauren last night.”

“What?!” Charlie shouts, making my head ring.

“I brought her home with me last night, but now she’s on her way home. Maybe to see him, I don’t know. I have a bad feeling. Do you know where she lives?”

“Yes! It’s at the North Ridge Apartments. On the corner of Main and Dunbar. Meet me there.”

“Okay.”

“And, Rachel…” Charlie says quickly before I can hang up.

“Yeah?”

“Maybe it’s a good idea to bring some backup. Just in case things get a little crazy.”

I nod and wipe the tears streaming down my face. “Yeah. Right. I will.”

I toss my phone back inside my purse and look between the bros. “Can someone come with me?” I say shakily.

Alex nods. “Yeah, I will go with you.”

Lucas makes a face. “I want to, but I have work. Do you want me to cancel?”

“No,” I say while shaking my head. “Alex is good enough.”

“I’ll go too,” says Seth.

“You?” Lucas asks, his gaze narrowing into a dark scowl.

“Yeah, me.” Seth puffs out his chest, yet it does nothing to prove his point. “Two is better than one.”

“Maybe Hunter should go with,” says Lucas.

Hunter shakes his head. “I have a meeting with an agent today. I don’t think I can reschedule.”

“It’s okay,” I say while placing a hand on Hunter’s arm. “Seth and Alex are more than enough.”

“Alright, meet in the living room in fifteen?” Seth asks, reminding me of the leader he used to be.

I force a smile and give him a nod, watching the bros leave. I have no clue what to expect when we get to Lauren’s. I just hope we get there in time.
