She giggles. “So, you two finally hooked up again. About damn time.”

“Yeah.” I look away shyly, blushing as memories of last night play through my head.

“Wait.” Kennedy bends down so she can see my face. “Did you...”

I do my best to avoid her stare, but it's pointless. The second she notices the tint in my cheeks and the way I pull my bottom lip between my teeth, she immediately figures it out.

“Oh my God!” she shouts. “You—”

Throwing my hand over her mouth, the rest of her sentence is muffled before she can announce my sex life to the entire team. Still, when I look around, everyone is looking at the two of us.

“Ignore her. She has Tourette's.”

They all go back to what they were doing, and Kennedy is too in shock to care. A wide grin stretches across her face. It almost reaches her ears and honestly starts to look ridiculous.

I roll my eyes. “Shut up.”

“I just can't believe it,” she admits. “I mean, I knew you guys were bound to hook up again eventually, I just didn't expect that. Was it perfect? Was it everything you ever dreamed of?”

“We are not talking about this.”

She whines. “Oh, come on. You've got to give me something.”

I shake my head. “I really don't.”

“Okay, fine,” she groans. “But what does that mean for the two of you now? Are you dating or just kind of fucking around?”

Honestly, I don't have an answer for her. We haven't had a second to talk about it, and that makes me nervous. But I trust Zayn, and after the way he was acting this morning, I don't think he's looking at this as just sex either. Or at least I hope he's not.

WALKING OUT OF THE gym, I see Zayn waiting for me outside. Kennedy must see him too because she coos and nudges me like we're in middle school.

“You're seriously a twelve-year-old,” I tell her as he comes to stand in front of us.

She shrugs. “Makes life more fun.” Her attention turns to Zayn. “You hurt her, and I'll cut you.”

“Kennedy!” I say in disbelief.

Walking away backward so she's facing us, she smiles. “Have fun, you two, but use protection!”

Zayn chuckles while I face palm. Thank God Easton isn't around, because she totally just outed us to everyone within a twenty-foot radius.

“She's subtle,” Zayn quips.

I exhale heavily. “I don't know why I'm friends with her.”

He puts his hand on the back of my neck and presses a kiss to my forehead. “She wants to protect you. I can respect that.”

I melt into his touch, and if we weren't in public, I'd be all over him. But we are, and I don't want to do something that he would possibly turn down for one reason or another. I look up at him and find he's already smiling down at me.

“So, is waiting for me becoming your new thing?”

He tilts his head from side to side. “I mean, that doesn't sound like a bad idea, but no. I want to take you somewhere.”

“Oh?” I start to follow him over toward his car. “Should I be nervous?”

He chuckles. “Not at all, babe.”

The term of endearment is something I'm so not used to, but I love it. It rolls off his tongue so naturally, it's like there's no hesitation at all. I can't help but smile as I look down at the ground. Wherever we're going, I'd follow him anywhere.
