He chuckles as I start walking toward my new car. "I thought you don't do boyfriends? What was it you said? You don't want to be tied to someone just because society says you should be?"

Spinning around to walk backward, I smile and flip him off. "Goodnight, Noah."

"Night, Maniac."

IT'S NEARLY THREE INthe morning when I finally get to Carter's. All the lights are off as I tip-toe through the dorm, careful not to wake anyone. When I slip into bed though, Carter stirs.

"Hey you," he murmurs tiredly. "What time is it?"

"Around three. I had to stop at my dorm for more clothes."

He wraps an arm around me and pulls me close, nuzzling his nose into my neck. "You should just move all your stuff here."

I snort. "Sure, babe."

"I'm serious," he says, and this time he sounds more awake, more lucid. "I mean you're here all the time anyway. Leave Beverly and her crazy over there, and move in with me."

"Carter, this place isn't big enough for four people," I argue.

Sitting up, he rubs his hands over his face. "So we get our own place. Something near campus."

My brows furrow as I watch him. A part of me is waiting for him to crack—to tell me he's joking or that he's half asleep and doesn't realize what he's saying. But that time doesn't come. Instead, he just stares back at me, waiting for my answer.

"You're serious?" I question.

He smiles in the way that makes my heart skip. "Benz, I've been serious about you for years. It's you that took a while to come around."
