"That's what I figured, but she went unseen for a whole year. And now from what Jace tells me, she's at NHU and wreaking havoc on your life? Sounds a little fishy to me, pun intended."

Of course, Jace went behind my back to tell Wyatt why I wanted him looking into Tye. I look over at my best friend and mouth “traitor” at him. He shrugs, completely indifferent to it, and I decide to change the subject.

"Listen, if you've got time, I've got another small project for you," I tell him.

I can hear as he hits a few more keys on his computer. "I think I can manage. What’cha got?"

"I'm going to forward you a picture." Jace snorts from beside me the second the words leave my mouth, but I ignore him. "I just need basic information. Name, age, all that normal shit."

Wyatt chuckles. "You couldn't find that on your own?"

"I tried, but it's proving to be a little harder than I expected for some reason."

Putting him on speaker, I open my text with Wyatt and send him the picture I took of Tye's friend last night. Once it goes through, I see it change to read—telling me he opened it.

"Do you know anything about this guy?"

"Just that he's been hanging around Tye. That's all I've got for you. Sorry."

He starts typing away, already getting to work. "That's okay. I like a challenge. I'll let you know if I find anything."

"Thanks, man."

We hang up and Jace snickers, shaking his head at me while not taking his eyes off his phone.

"You have issues, my friend," he quips.

I flip him off even though he's not looking. "I just want to know who he is. Since when is that a crime?"

"It's not," he agrees. "But it's also not a crime for Tye to be hanging out with a guy who isn't you."

"All right, Brutus," I joke, standing up. "I'm taking a shower and then I have to meet my dad for lunch."

"Don't suck him into the Find Tyeler's Boyfriend brigade, too."

A deep laugh echoes out of me. "Call him Tyeler's boyfriend again. I dare you."

He scrunches his nose. "No, thank you. I like my balls attached."

Smart man.

TWO DAYS PASS BEFOREI find out that Wyatt had no luck. The picture is too grainy for any facial recognition software, and there's just not enough to go off of for searching any other way. Jace thinks I should just give up, but I can't. Every time I see her with him, all I want is to go caveman on her ass.

We're on our way to Zayn's, and let me tell you, if he's at the party tonight, I can't promise things won't get out of hand. For the last couple days, Tye hasn't done anything else to me. If I'm being honest, I don't know if that's better or worse. The total silence coming from her gets under my skin more than anything.

I let my head fall back against the seat and stare out the window as Jace drives.

"Do you know what you need?" he asks me.

I glance over at him and smirk. "To get laid?"

"I was going to say to get drunk, but laid works too."

His suggestion seems more likely, since I haven't even been able to look at another girl since Tye showed up. It's sad, and pathetic, and not something I'm proud of, but she has my attention in a damn vise grip.

We pull up to Zayn's, and the party is already well past started. I climb out of the car and head up the steps. As soon as I get inside, I can already feel the tension in the air.

She's here. I know it.
