She sits up. "I've slept with my dead best friend's ex-fiancé not only once, but twice now. So, yeah. I'd say I need to take the edge off just a bit."

Standing, I walk into the kitchen and grab a bottle of whiskey and two shot glasses. Tye follows me, and when she sees me put them on the counter, her brows furrow.

"What are you doing?" she questions.

"If you want to drink, you can," I tell her. "But you're doing it here, with me, and you're not leaving."

She looks at me curiously and walks around to my side of the island. "You're just trying to get me drunk."

I chuckle and stare down at her. "That's an unnecessary step."

"Is it?"

In two steps, I have her caged against the island. I hover over her, our lips almost touching as she stays completely still. Her breath hitches as I keep her under my heated stare.

"Tell me I'm wrong."

Her lack of an answer and the way her hand immediately moves to rest against my abs tells me all I need to know.

She can't.
