Walkinginto Zayn and Easton's with the two tiers of leftover cake, you'd think these people haven't eaten a day in their lives. The second Carter puts it down on the island, they crowd around it and within a few minutes, it's gone. I chuckle as I watch Amelia with a piece as big as her head.
"Do you have the munchies or something?" I question.
She looks around with wide eyes, like she's paranoid of getting caught. Zayn starts laughing hysterically at the way she turns to him for help. She smacks him in the chest, almost dropping her cake.
"Oh my God," I chuckle. "You're high as a fucking kite."
Her cheeks pink. "Zayn and I smoked a blunt with Knox."
Oh, this should be interesting. "Is this your first time?"
She nods and leans against her boyfriend. Meanwhile, her brother looks less than pleased.
Easton rolls his eyes. "Pricks. All of you."
They all make their way out into the living room, but I notice Kennedy sitting on the kitchen counter with a sullen look on her face. I wait until everyone is gone and go over to her.
"You okay, babe?" I ask her.
She shrugs. "I guess."
As she hops down and goes to follow everyone else, I grab her wrist to stop her. "No. Talk to me. What's wrong?"
Sighing, she runs her fingers through her hair. "I'm just tired of competing with someone who shouldn't even be in competition with."
Ah. I know she and Easton were fighting last night, but I wasn't really sure what it was about until Amelia told me. Apparently, Tessa and Easton dated for a bit, and he never really seemed to get over her. And last night, Kennedy caught Easton staring at her like she hung the moon. I honestly can't imagine being in that kind of situation. I'd probably cut his dick off just for thinking about her.
"You don't deserve that bullshit," I tell her. "You and E have been together for a year now, haven't you?"
"Yeah."
"Then fuck him. If he can't commit to you and leave his ex in the past, find someone who will."
She giggles sadly. "It's that easy?"
I smirk. "It can be, but I'll support whatever you want to do. And if you decide we're kicking his ass, just let me know. I think I'd look good in a black ski mask."
"You're certifiable, you know that?" she jokes.
Leaning in, I place a big, wet kiss on her cheek. "I know. That's why you love me."
We link arms and go out to the living room just as Knox and some brunette that looks a lot like Tessa comes down the stairs. Their clothes are disheveled, and the girl really looks like she could use a hairbrush. All I'm saying is that a blind man could see what was going on up there.
"Damn, Knox," Amelia says. "I never took you for a hair puller."
Carter snickers and looks at the girl. "I'm so sorry, Laney."
Laney.
Where have I heard that name before? Laney.
Oh my God. Delaney. I've heard about her. Jace told Davi about her once when Davi wasn't sure why Carter didn't seem very into her. She's the first girl that managed to get Carter's attention and keep it, only to crush his heart when she chose someone else over him. I guess that someone was Knox.
"The fuck are you apologizing to her for?" Knox growls.
The corner of Carter's mouth raises in a smirk. "Because if your girl is still wide awake after you have sex, let me tell you, you didn't do your job."
Everyone laughs at Knox's expense, and Carter winks at me. I roll my eyes but can't help the smile that comes to my face.
