"Do the words don't tell anyone mean nothing to you?"

He shrugs carelessly and wraps his arms around my waist, kissing a sensitive part of my neck. "I told you not to push me."

I don't bother trying to escape from his hold. The secret’s out at this point. There's no going back into hiding for us, that's for sure.

"Oh!" Zayn stands and runs up the stairs before coming down with an envelope. "I almost forgot to give you this."

Carter's brows furrow. "What is it?"

"Your birthday present," he says, as if it's obvious.

Working around me, he opens the envelope and pulls out two concert tickets. "Front row to the Sound the Sirens concert? That's so sick, man. Thank you."

"No problem. We all bought our own, but we chipped in for yours."

Knox turns his head toward Zayn. "The fuck, asshat? You don't get me presents that good."

"You hate Sound the Sirens, since Carter used them to ask Delaney to prom, remember?" Easton points out.

"There are other bands, Donovan," Knox claps back, still affronted.

"Aw, are you jealous of my bromance?" coos Carter.

If he's looking to press Knox's buttons, that one is right up there with hitting on Delaney. Knox gives Carter a dirty look before his shoulders sag and he puts his palms together like he's praying.

"Oh, thank you sweet baby Jesus." He sighs in relief and blows a kiss to the sky. "I almost started to like him. That's fixed now. I'm good, guys! I'm all better now."

Everyone laughs at his antics, including Carter, and I have to admit, I could get used to this carefree feeling that I get with these people, especially sitting here with Carter rubbing circles into my hip. It's an absentminded gesture. He probably doesn't even realize he's doing it. But it makes me feel things inside. Things I've been trying not to overthink lately.

If I don't overthink it, maybe I won't ruin it.
