The party moves around me,everyone having the time of their life. Of course, Knox couldn't leave tomorrow without Zayn throwing one of the parties he's known for. And it's not like any of us objected.

I'm sitting on the island, drinking a beer, when Jace comes over and stands beside me. He looks at me curiously and then turns away.

"Spit it out, London," I tell him.

He chuckles and takes a sip of his drink. "So, you two are what? Just fucking around?"

It's the first time anyone has directly asked me what Tye and I are, and honestly, I don't have an answer for him. It's not even a question I've asked myself lately. I've just been enjoying the fact that she isn't trying to ruin my life every time I turn around, or worse, her own. Plus, I finally have her in my arms and in my bed, so really, I’m good.

"I guess that's what you could call it," I answer.

He hums. "Is that going to be enough for you? I mean, I know how deep your feelings run for that one."

It's not like he's wrong to be worried. I wanted Delaney, yeah. And at one point I thought what I felt might have been love, but with Tye, everything I felt about Laney pales in comparison. I want to spend every waking moment around her, and when she smiles at me, I can't look away. It might be pathetic, but I don't care. I fucking want her, no matter how I get her.

"I'll be any goddamn thing she needs me to be."

Smirking, he nudges me with his elbow. "And you used to say Paige and I were bad."

I huff out a laugh but don't respond. A couple minutes later, Zayn and Knox come over. Knox has an obnoxious grin on his face, looking overly pleased, while Zayn raises his brows at me.

"There's a guy hitting on your girl," Knox tells me excitedly, as if he's hoping I'll go get my ass beat.

Leaning over so I can see past Zayn, I notice a guy trying to talk to Tye, but she's never looked more uninterested. I chuckle softly and go back to drinking my beer.

"Aren't you going to do something about that?" Zayn questions.

"Nope," I answer, popping the p before I take a swig.

Knox's shoulders drop. "Seriously? That's no fun."

I tip my cup toward her just as I see her start to reach her limit of how much she'll take. Just as I thought, the guy puts his hands on her waist again, and she freezes for a split second before stomping on his foot and elbowing him right in the face. Blood spews from his nose, which is no longer sitting straight on his face.

Knox watches in amazement, while neither Jace nor I are surprised. Tyeler Morgan is anything but a damsel in distress. Make no mistake, if she were to be locked in a tower, it's because the princess put herself there.

She comes marching toward us with a pout plastered on her face. "The asshole got blood on my elbow."

I snicker as she passes to go wash it off while Knox's eyes follow her in awe.

"She's going to slaughter you one day," he says, like he's in love with the idea. "It's going to be magical."

THE THOUGHT THAT I might very well die today crosses my mind as I pull into my parents’ development. Now that we’re almost there, I realize that the plan I thought was genius is probably going to lead to me being murdered and thrown in a ditch somewhere. As Tye starts to catch on, her brows furrow.

“Where are we?” she asks. “I thought we were going to lunch.”

“We are.” I try to seem nonchalant about it, but I fail miserably. “Lunch at my parents’ house.”

“Your what?” Her jaw drops, and not in the good way. “Carter, do the words just having some fun mean nothing to you? We are not at the meet-your-parents level here.”

I chuckle nervously. If she’s freaking out over the mere idea of meeting my family, I can only imagine what’s going to happen when she finds out why I’m really bringing her here. It’s a good thing I have decent health insurance.

Pulling into the driveway, she’s too busy glaring at me to realize we’re here. I turn off the car and take the keys out of the ignition. Tye crosses her arms over her chest and looks at me expectantly.

“What are we doing here, Trayland?”

Fuck. She’s last-name-only level mad.

I run my fingers through my hair and sigh. “I may have told my dad about your father’s upcoming parole board hearing.”
