“You are not timing her.”

He just shrugs. “She takes more than five minutes, I’m going in there and carrying her out.”

Shaking my head, I lean against the doorframe. I try to act like I’m disappointed in him, but end up laughing. I can’t wait either.

It’s not a date. Not really.

But it feels like it. And, if we play our cards right, maybe she’ll start to see us as an option. That’s all I’m hoping for. Although, my dick has another opinion.

As Brendan checks his phone again, I adjust myself. He smirks, then strolls inside. “Five minutes are up, Little Girl.”

Like hell it’s been five minutes. Two at most. Before I can call out to him to stop, I hear a shriek. Then Brendan strolls through the living room carrying Asra over his shoulder. She’s changed into a pair of jeans, but her shirt hangs half on. Her entire torso is bare, her black, lace bra leaving very little to the imagination. One arm out, she struggles in his grasp to pull it over her head.

I hold in a laugh, glad I already adjusted myself. If I wasn’t hard at the sight of her sleepy figure, I sure as fuck am now. She’ll learn soon enough, when Brendan sets his mind to something, there’s no changing it. I at least will be patient.

She kicks and flails. “Wait, wait, wait! Put me down. I’m not ready yet. I said five minutes.”

“Nope,” he swats her on the ass, “time to go.”

She struggles some more, managing to pull both arms through her shirt. Hitting him on his back, her glare pierces even me. “I need my hat at least. And sunglasses and shoes.”

“Got it.” I snag the items, glad they are all near the back door. My chest tightens the tiniest bit. Hat and sunglasses, right on the table near her door, so she never forgets them. Can’t forget them. Holding them all in one hand, I try not to let those thoughts get to me as she continues to struggle. She’s more than a disease. She’s Asra, and we’re going to show her, she’s not limited in her life. “Anything else, Shades?”

“Wait, wait. I need my keys.”

“Yep, can’t forget those.” I grab the ring of keys from her small end table. “That it?”

“Where are we going?” She lifts her head up, her gray eyes peeking through her messy hair.

Coming up behind Brendan, I run my fingers through those brunette locks to get a better view of her beautiful face and cup her chin. I barely resist kissing her pouty lips. “It’s a surprise.”

She glares at me.

“Don’t worry, it’s a good one.” Damn, it’s going to be a long day. I don’t react this way toward women. I’m the calm, calculated one. The one who overthinks and plans everything. But around Asra, all that flies out the window. She consumes everything, burning all the thoughts out of my mind with her pale eyes.

All my worries flee. My plans fall to shreds. Want and desire take over. But I know she’s not ready yet.

It has to be up to her.

“Come on,” I tug the cap over her head, “you can put your shoes on in the truck.”

“You can’t be serious?” She glances around frantically. “You’re not carrying me outside.”

“Yeah, I am.”

I hold the door open as Brendan carries her out.She kicks and flails the entire time, even hits him a few times and yells a few choice words. But, he keeps strolling like it’s nothing. I lock up her place, then hand her the keys. It doesn’t take long to walk around the fence and plop her in the back seat of the truck.

“Come on, Prude,” Brendan smiles, hopping in the driver’s seat and starting his truck up, “think of it as a grand adventure.”

“I’m thinking of something else right now.” She crosses her arms over her chest.

He winks toward the rearview mirror. “If it involves you and me, you can think of anything you want.”

“You’re a caveman.”

I try to stifle my laugh with a cough.

She only glares at me. “And you’re no better. You’re just enabling him.”
