I still didn’t know why he wanted me to get stronger, wiser, and have more magic than him.

“I’m ready,” Blake said, holding a picnic box in his hand.

I laughed. “Are you really taking us food?”

“And wine,” he said. “This is more than a bind to me. This is our first real solo date.”

“Ah, that romantic in you is popping back out again.”

“It’s always there, Lace. I’m a romantic at heart...” He grinned. “But don’t worry, I will fuck you and when you can’t take anymore. I’ll lovingly bind to you.”

I giggled. “You can’t help yourself.” I said. His words were crude, but I still pushed my thighs together.

He took a purposeful lean towards me, glanced a look and gave me a smile, the same one that always took my breath away. Because I knew he only had eyes for me.

He put his index finger under my chin and tilted my chin until our eyes met. The gaze was heated, sending sparks of electricity firing from all my nerve endings. I smiled at him and his tongue swept out and licked along his bottom lip. He was so damn good at making me so aware of him. The way his body took up space so casually that made my blood throb, to the masculine broadness of his shoulders, the way his jaw tightened, and the muscles in his neck cord. Everything about him made the oxygen disappear around me.

“It will be more soon,” he said, taking my hand, his thumb delicately rubbing circles over the top of my hand. I stared and felt the air shifting around me. I think it could be the sight of the pulsing in his neck. One side of his lip lifted as he arched one of his eyebrows and I realise then I’d been staring too long.

But I couldn’t help it. Blake wasn’t just gorgeous, he was elegant, which was a strange word for a man. I smiled. “Maybe I can’t love you any more than I already do.” I sighed because I was so scared I could lose him soon. He could die because of the dark king or worse, he could die because of me and the power of the bind.

“Stop worrying,” he said.

I laughed. “Is it written on my face? Clay said I need to learn to be less expressive.”

Blake smiled. “Don’t change Lacey. You’re perfect and I love your face talking to me.”

I held his hand tighter and laid my head against his shoulder. “You’re pretty perfect yourself,” I said. “I think I wanted you the very first day I saw you.”

“I made a mess of it,” he said.

“We got there in the end,” I whispered. “Blake.” I hesitated and stared into eyes that sparkled with fire and ice simultaneously, which I really didn’t think was possible. “Are you nervous, scared even?”

He held my upper arms with both hands. I glanced down at his arms, at his white shirt sleeves and seeing how he rolled them back, revealing his perfect forearms, clean of tattoos but with delicious lean muscle. His black hair was short but not so hard it was barely there and his mouth set in a firm line.

“Neither,” he said as he stared at me and I fell captive to his gaze, my eyes locked with his. “It’s all I’ve ever wanted. You’re all I’ve ever wanted.”

He lowered his face and his lips touched my mine in a sweet kiss, his lips were soft. And I ran my hands over his chest. He pulled back. And I almost moaned at the loss of the touch.

“I understand your concern, though,” he said.

He hadn’t blinked, but I don’t think I had either. My eyes flicked lower to his sexy lips. He purposely ran his tongue across them as if he knew how to push every button on my body. And it did. My thighs clenched, waiting, wanting.

His lip curled into the most amazing smile, and he was so beautiful when he looked at me like that. My heart fluttered and my stomach flipped, and I wanted him.

I wanted him right now.

He grinned.

And it was as though he knew either that, or he wanted me as much too.

I closed my eyes as I inhaled his smell, a clean and masculine scent, so alluring was his natural smell and even more divine than the sandalwood he normally wore.

He kissed my shoulders and neck, then replaced his mouth with blunt fingers to stroke my back and shoulders, tracing the contours of my body, sending sensations of pleasure quivers down my spine. As his lips crashed on mine again, my heart thumped solidly in my chest and heat built between my thighs, aching for this man that stood before me, ready to satisfy my desire. He stepped away and the hint of a moan escaped my lips and I pressed my thighs together to satisfy some of the need he’d awoken in me.

A shaky breath spilled between my lips and I raised my finger to my mouth on instinct, running my it over my puffed up lips.

“Swollen looks good on you.” Giving me a look that made me shiver in anticipation of what was to come next. “Did Seb bind in his angel form?” he asked with a curl on one side of his lip.
