He spun me onto my belly. I lifted my ass to Blake, and he mounted me from behind, capturing my wrists behind my back with one hand, and I adjusted my hips as he slid into me. His free palm braced my waist as he dragged me on and off his length. The wet slapping sounds only drove me higher, the steady thrust, and the sweet pleasure. Pure lust shuddered through my body, making my muscles clench around his cock.

I loved the new angle and rhythm.

His breath rate increased as he thrust deep. The cock filling me felt bigger, thicker, my muscles strained to open and his growls turned savage, the thrusting, monstrous rod equally so. And without warning, my climax ripped through me.

The same moment he filled me with hot liquid, as an eerie, animalistic growl erupted from behind me. Almost afraid, but I glanced a look over my shoulder, and the beautiful blue eyed Blake was gone; replaced by a combination I’d seen only in my dreams.

A combination I had felt under my hand—a combination of man and beast.

I blinked hard and peeked beneath my lashes, and I gasped at the sight that greeted me. His chest puffed out the moment I sensed him, goosebumps rising on the back of my neck. A rough growl rattled up from his throat.

My eyes widened and my mouth dropped open as I finally sucked the air that had disappeared from my lungs, as if a thief had sneaked a hand inside my chest and stolen it. My breath hitched and icy fingers ran down my spine before I tensed, and he knew it, his arms wrapped around my waist.

He said nothing, but his gaze never left mine.

Burning eyes stare down at me.

His baby blue eyes I fell so easily for were now a mixture of obsidian with a scarlet hue, eyes that were ablaze, lighting the room's darkness. And there were promises of so much pleasure and I knew only he could subdue the fire threatening to scorch me alive. The fire that was lighting up for me, flames that burned in those depths.

His smile grew even wider, exposing much more of his ivory teeth than he had ever shown. And that’s when I knew, and he knew I knew.

My gaze fell back into the depths of his, hovering over me, smiling, and I knew him instantly. There was a movement in his eyes. The redness darkened to near black.

His presence overwhelmed me, and all the sounds in the room faded in an instance. All I could do was stare at the face that I wanted to look away from, but it caught me, trapped in the net of his gaze and unable to pull myself back.

I trembled as Blake—or was it Deven—slid a delicate fingertip over my face. My breath hitched while I struggled not to move a muscle. I didn’t look away. I kept watching, not sure if it was fear or fascination that kept me watching. He inspected every part of me, not rough or unkind, totally the opposite.

I knew it wasn’t a dream, but I blinked, wondering if it would destroy the scene before me, make it disappear like when dreams did on waking. But he wasn’t a dream, he was still there.

And I realised then his features were like Blake’s. He had changed, but I still recognised him. Everything seemed enhanced, though. His hair was as black, his jaw squarer, his nose sharper, his cheekbones harder, as though he had lost a little of his youth. But it was his beautiful blue eyes that were no longer there. Now there were a mixture of black and red. And now I realised why he didn’t want me to take the blindfold off that day. It was never about trust.

“You weren’t ready for me, you were ready for Blake but not me,” he said as though he was listening in to all my thoughts. “I am. I need to know what you’re thinking.”

“Stop it,” I said.

He laughed and his amusement vibrated through my body and that’s when I remembered he still filled inside of me. And in a single heartbeat, he trapped me within a nightmare I couldn’t escape from. He claimed me. He told me he would. Blood pumped into my ears as panic filled my lungs.

Chapter 38

Lacey

Stopthebind.

“Lacey,” he purred. The moment he did, my body hummed for him and I couldn’t stop the bind from continuing, even if I wanted to. “That’s better. Take all of me, don’t stop.”

His words made me shiver with vulnerability. “Can you feel the bind, Lacey? My knot is keeping us in place. Only I can release it,” he said. My angel shifter, Blake... the dark king.

I could feel every bit of him as I tried to release the bind, but he felt part of me, as though I’d have to cut him out of me.

His lips touched my neck, too gentle, too soft and loving as he locked inside me. And he surprised me. He was tender as he took it slowly, not rushing as I considered it would be.

“You’ve broken the spell,” he said, an enormous smile stretched across his face. “You feel it.”

I shook my head. Of course I was lying. I felt every part, every part of him. He’d become part of me, like Seb and Kane, and especially like Aria.

“You’ll get used to it. You’ll feel your bonds properly now. But that means I need to do something about that. Because you know I can’t share you.”

I shook my head, letting him know that wasn’t happening. If Blake wanted me, he needed to accept the life I chose.
