It didn’t get past me that each time I mentioned Aria, Seb looked gutted. Today he looked especially upset. I knew he wanted the same and I got it, I'd be jealous if it was him. But he loved them both and when he picked up Aria, it was like she was his. The way he looked at her was lovely. He adored her.

It could quite easily have been him... The father to her child.

But I was fucking glad it wasn't.

“I’m making Lacey a smoothie. Would you like one?”

“Smoothie, the coffee queen is drinking fruit juice.” Seb laughed.

“She’s still breastfeeding. We want our baby to have the best start.”

“Oh, yes. No, I’ll make a coffee. Can I see them?”

“Of course,” I said and hesitated. “It surprised me when Lacey said Ryan had bound.” I turned back to see Seb.

“Yeah, we had to play a game first to get him in the mood,” Seb added, and raised his eyes. “He seriously is more turned on by pleasuring her through oral and watching her.”

“You were there?" I whispered, surprised Ryan wanted that. "Maybe that will change now.”

“Mm,” Seb said, raising his eyes.

“Is there something you’re not telling me?” I asked.

He shook his head, but I knew he was angry about something. I sensed his fury which was simmering underneath.

I nodded my head slowly as I considered what it could be. I’d speak to Lacey. She’d tell me more about what had happened. “Clay didn’t want her to bind with Ryan. I should have pushed Lacey more to reconsider,” I said.

Seb nodded and chewed on the inside of his cheek. “Yeah, not sure what it was, but I picked up nothing but bad vibes.”

“I know he bit her when they bound, and I think he was quite rough with her because I touched her hips, and she squirmed,” I said.

“Did you look?” Seb asked when he finished making his coffee.

“It was dark and Aria was still asleep.”

Seb picked up his coffee mug and took a sip.

“Do you think Blake is right, and he isn’t who he says he is?” I asked.

“Both Blake and Carter called it—that Ryan wasn’t who he claimed. Something happened last night. I saw something but I don’t know what it was. I think he had been keeping himself under wraps this whole time.”

“The dark king?” I suggested and then shook my head. “He wouldn’t get in here and we're fucked if he is.”

Seb swallowed.

“He wouldn’t get into this house if he was the dark king,” I said.

“You hope...” Seb said, arching an eyebrow. “He has asked an awful lot of questions about this house and its safeguards. And why would he need to lock his bedroom door at night?”

“Shit,” I hissed. “You think he is veiled?”

“He is the master of knowledge. He is the one who seems to know a lot more than I expected.”

“Do you think he is a vampire?”

Seb shrugged his shoulders. “He looks the opposite of a vampire with his light brown hair and warm-coloured skin, but what I believe is. Whatever he is, he looks nothing like Ryan.”

I knew who Seb was, but sometimes I wondered if he was hiding something extra. It was the way he looked at me, but there was a possibility he thought I was hiding something. One day we’d have to sit down and have that conversation, not today, though.
