I pushed that thought away quickly.

“Anyway,” I said as I topped off my beer. “Been too long since we’ve all been in the same room. I think we’re overdue for a little catching up.”

She smiled. “I agree. It’s been too long.”

With that, the night was on. Over drinks we all shot the shit just like we used to. We talked about what we’d been up to over the last few years, but with a major exception – none of us pressed the issue with her and Adam. If she wanted to bring it up, that was one thing. But nobody wanted to be the one to drag up raw feelings if she didn’t initiate it first.

The night was fun. We slipped right into our old banter, swapping jokes from our ongoing text conversation and busting each other’s chops about how we were back in the day.

Once I got a few drinks in me it was impossible not to flirt with her – at least a little. I’d laugh at her jokes, touch her hand, and she’d touch me right back.

It felt like we were entering dangerous territory and I wasn’t sure how far I should wade.
