“Yeah. Dream’s assertive as they come, but it’s still a pretty tall order to expect her to seek us all out to make sure we’re cool. We should be the ones doing it.”

Jay glanced aside, giving the matter some thought. “Yeah, you’re right. But we shouldn’t be doing anything. There’s three of us, and if we all come to her to talk, she might feel overwhelmed.”

“Then what’s your solution?”

“One of us reaches out to her. And that one of us should be me.”

“You? Why you?”

“Because you’re the one who made the first move. You try to talk to her one-on-one again and she might think it’s your way of trying to pick things up where you left off. Trust me, it’s easier this way.”

I shook my head, a little frustrated. He was right, but I wanted to be the one to reach out to her, maybe even to apologize for coming on so strong so suddenly.

The important thing was that one of us reached out and put Dream at ease. She had enough to deal with moving back and all the shit with Adam. We needed to make sure she had one less thing to worry about.

“Alright,” I said. “Give her a call and see what you can do. In the meantime…” I took the last bite of my meal before pushing it aside and pulling Duncan’s half-eaten plate in front of me.

Jay laughed. “You ever think about anything other than food?”

At that moment, Dream appeared in my mind. She was dressed in the tight skirt and green top that she’d worn last night.

I grinned. “From time to time.”
