“Yeah, I get it. You’ll send me back to Hell. Save your threats, Donatello. I won’t let anything happen to either of them.” Ending the call, I raise an eyebrow and wait to see what Angelica’s next excuse will be. Little does she know I’m not planning on taking no for an answer. It will just be a whole fucking lot easier for both of us if she comes willingly. She still looks shell-shocked, a little pale, and maybe nauseous.

“You shouldn’t have done that, Neo. Do you honestly think my father is going to let you get away with speaking to him like that?”

I shrug. “Do you honestly think I give a fuck what your father does? Come on, go pack your shit, and I’ll go rescue Izzy from T.” When she doesn’t move, I switch tactics. “Angel, you’ve been running around town all week trying to dig up info on me. Think of this as your golden ticket. No one ever gets an invite to my home. Imagine how much you’ll learn about me there.”

“You’re right. I do want to know more about the enigma that is Neo Valentino.”

“Good, it’s settled then. Let’s go.”

We make it to the hall before she stops again, looking in the direction of T’s room. “I should probably tell Izzy myself.”

“Orwe could tell her together,” I suggest, and Angelica’s eyes widen.

“I… I’ll tell her. Just wait for us downstairs.”

As much as I want to argue with her, I don’t. I’ve finally gotten her to agree to come home with me. I’m not about to push the boundaries she clearly needs. “Okay. I’ll wait downstairs. I do need to check in on T first, though.” We find Theo, Holly, and Izzy in the same position we left them. All laid out on the bed. “Hey, Bel, did he give you any trouble?” I ask, pointing at the man in question.

“Nope, my Uncle T is the best uncle. Did you know he can ride horses too? Can you ride horses, Neo?” she questions.

I look to T, knowing damn well he can’t ride horses. “Nope, but I’m sure I can learn, right?”

“Maybe,” Izzy answers.

“Izzy, come on, it’s time to let Zio e Zia rest,” Angelica tells her. I wait as Izzy climbs off the bed, offers her goodbyes, and follows Angelica out of the room before I sit on the edge of the mattress.

“Ah, I’m just going to go down to the kitchen to get some snacks. I’ll be back,” Holly says.

“Dolcezza, you do know we have maids for that.”

“I don’t need a maid to get me snacks, T. I’m not a damn invalid.” Holly walks out with a huff.

“How you really feelin’?” I ask Theo, once we’re alone.

“Like I’ve had my head smashed in by Mike Tyson himself.” He groans as he moves to sit upright.

“Yeah, I don’t doubt it. What do you want to do about this rat situation? And why the fuck has Donatello sent Angelica here to handle it?”

“I want you to find out who the fuck it is, then bring the fucker to me,” he growls between clenched teeth.

“Did you know Angelica’s been looking into this too?”

The surprised expression on his face tells me he didn’t. “What do you mean she’s been looking into it? What’s she been doing?”

“She’s been all over town getting info out of anyone who’ll talk.” I shrug, like it’s no big deal.

“I want you to put a fucking stop to that now, Neo. Don’t let her go out there talking to God knows who.”

I laugh. “Have you met your sister? Because there is no way she’s going to take orders from either of us.”

“Then I’ll call Donatello—tell him to send her back to fucking Italy.”

“Unless you want me following her, she’s not fucking leaving.” I push to my feet and start pacing the room. T is quiet as he observes me lose my fucking mind at the thought. The idea of Angelica going back to Italy does not fucking sit well with me at all. If she goes, I will fucking follow her. “I’m taking Angelica and Izzy to my place tonight. They’ll be staying there indefinitely. I’ll drop by tomorrow and check in on you.”

“Neo, don’t make me have to kill my best friend,” T warns as I walk out.

“Wouldn’t dream of it,” I say more to myself than to him. I head to the guest room and find it empty, not a sign of them in sight. They must be waiting downstairs already.

I jog in that direction while the feeling in the pit of my stomach is warning me something’s not right. Ignoring it, I walk through the foyer to the kitchen. There isn’t a sign of anyone in here either.
