“What the fuck, Josh!” I hear yelled at us. I’m too drunk on this kiss to even care who it is. I want more. I need more of Josh, and whoever just walked in has interrupted.

Josh breaks away from the kiss, while attempting to pull my dress down my thighs to a respectable level. When he realises it’s not going to happen, he gives up and lifts me from the bench, fixing my hem before he turns around.

“Sorry?” he questions both Dean and Sam, who are standing in the bathroom looking down at a lifeless body. Both of whom don’t seem too fussed with the scene. More annoyed.

“Sorry… you’re sorry? What the fuck happened in here? Emily, are you okay, sweetheart?” Dean asks.

Huh, interesting. I’ve always had a feeling that he didn’t like me very much. Yet he always asks if I’m okay. I nod my head and step in front of Josh. I will not let anyone give him a hard time about helping me. Protecting me.

“I’m sorry. It’s my fault. She came at me with a knife and I freaked out. By the time Josh came in here, she was already dead.” The lie easily slips from my mouth—a lie I will repeat over and over if it means protecting Josh from any fallout from this.

“Holy shit, Em. I take back what I said about you being a shitty liar, because that was fucking gold.” Josh laughs from behind me.

“Josh, not the time for that conversation,” I hiss out.

“Jesus, you’ve got it bad, girl.” Sam shakes his head. “Blink once if you need rescuing,” he tells me.

I raise my eyebrows at him and tilt my head. “How are your balls feeling, Sam?”

“Yep, that’s my cue to arrange a clean-up crew. Be right back. Don’t leave this bathroom, kids. You both look like shit. Well, not you, Emily. You could never look like shit.” Sam winks as he exits the room.

“Emily, don’t ever lie for Josh again. He’s a big boy and can definitely clean up his own mess,” Dean says pointedly to me before directing at Josh, “And you, really? Why is it every time you come here, you leave a mess behind?”

“That’s an exaggeration, Dean. You would have done the same thing. She had a knife at Emmy’s throat when I came in here. Tell me you wouldn’t have done the same thing for Ella.” Josh takes hold of my hand. I can feel the trembling. I squeeze tight and hold on. This is a sign he’s about to lose his shit. I need him to calm down.

“Of course I would have. I would have done the same for Emily too, you know. I’m not saying you did the wrong thing, just really shitty fucking timing.”

“Oh my God!” Ella screeches from the doorway before her pale face looks up at us.

“Fucking hell. El, Princess, calm down.” Dean wraps his arms around her.

“Calm down, Dean? There’s a dead girl in my bathroom and you’re telling me to calm down.” Her voice rises even louder when two more men come through the door.

“Jesus Christ, Josh, I thought I told you no blood tonight.” Zac curses as he looks from the body to me and Josh.

“It wasn’t Josh. It was me. It’s my fault. I did it,” I say, folding my arms over my chest. Zac and Bray both burst out laughing. I square my shoulders.

“What’s so funny about that?” I ask.

“She’s a keeper, that one, Josh.” Bray smirks.

“Ella, you good?” Zac asks, turning to his sister.

“I’d be better with less blood around. Dean, I need a drink, now!” Ella stomps out of the bathroom. I feel bad. She was so proud of how nice this bathroom was, and I’ve ruined it.

“Emily, are you okay?” Zac asks me. I’m a little shocked. He hasn’t really said much all night. He mostly sits there, looking grouchy and staring at wherever Alyssa is.

“Uh, yep. I think so,” I answer.

“I’m okay too. Thanks for asking,” Josh says. “Sam will have a clean-up crew here in no time. Don’t worry, you won’t even know they were here.”

“Yeah, I think I’ll organise my own. Bray, call them in. I want this bathroom remodelled. Again. Follow me. There’s a bathroom in my office you two can use.”

Zac walks out. “Wow, you must have made a good impression, Emily. He won’t even let me use his bloody bathroom,” Bray says while typing away on his phone.

It dawns on me that no one, not a single one of these men were deterred by the fact that there is a body surrounded by blood on the floor right now.

“Is Zac like a mafia boss or something? Because I get that, you know, it’s only family blah blah, but that’s probably something someone should have told me before I threatened to feed his balls to the pigs,” I question both Josh and Bray.
