Alora

“Arewebackto this again? Are you just going to keep pushing me away?” He spat.

“I am never,”

“I know, you’ll never be the girl I need. That's bullshit. I keep telling you I don't need anything but you, I want you just like this. My wife, my Vixen. There is no one else in this world I would rather fight with than you.”

“It’s not bullshit!” I walked past him into the hallway, and back to our room. He chased after me slamming the door behind him, walking up and grabbing my wrist spinning me around.

“Tell me the truth for once. I heard how you lost it when you found out I had been taken. I know you didn't leave my side at the hospital until I woke up. You stepped up, took care of me, and have been with me constantly these last three weeks.”

“Yeah, because the Doctor,”

“Bullshit.” He grabbed both of my wrists in his hands pulling them up between us, pulling me closer to him. “You could have asked Arturo, any of the guys, or anyone else to fill in for a few hours. They even offered and you turned them down. Why?”

“I, I don’t know.”

“Dammit Alora, just admit it. You care about me. Tell me you want me to stay in your life when all of this is over.”

I pulled my hands away, “No I don't, I, I, I can’t” I shook my head.

“Things are going to be different now. Gabriele is gone, what happens when we find Wrath? Tell me you want me to stay, tell me you want this as much as I do.”

“I can’t. There is no love in this world. People always let you down, always put themselves first.”

“I won’t, I will always put you first, always think of your safety before my own, Damnit Alora I love you.”

I looked up at him, his dark eyes staring back at me. I knew he meant it he did love me. And maybe part of me loved him. But it couldn't be. This world would break it. Break us. “You don’t. Not really, love in this world? Luka, we don't get that luxury. We don't get to live our lives as others do. Our world is dark, messy.” I turned.

He grabbed my face in his hands, pulling me to look at him. “We will change it together, you and I. If you want to burn it down, then,”

“What?!” I yelled. “You’ll burn it down for me?” I shook my head, “Give me the match, and watch me burn it down? I don't need you to rescue me dammit!” I tried to pull away from him, but he held me tight.

He looked at me and smiled, shaking my head. “No. You and I? We stand together.” He reached into his pocket, pulling out his lighter. He flipped it across his fingers before striking it, the flame seeming to ignite from his hand. He reached down, grabbed my hand, and put it around the lighter before wrapping his hand around mine. “We took out Gabriele together, and now we burn the entire fucking empire down together, side by side.”

I looked at our hands wrapped together, the flame dancing between us. “I just can’t, not now. What if I can never be what you need? Never say the things you need me to say?”

“Give me one damn sign that you give a shit about me. Something that tells me I’m not alone in this. Just give me something to fight for.”

I looked at him, pouring his heart out, looking for something from me I couldn't give him. I took a deep breath and pulled my right hand away. I slid it into my pocket, grabbing onto them and pulling them out. I looked at my hand closed around them, then looked up at him, and opened it.

“My cufflinks?” He reached down and grabbed them. “Mom gave me these before the wedding.”

“I know she told me.”

“I don't understand, why are they in your pocket?”

I reached up and took them out of his hand and gripped them tight. “When I realized Gabriele had taken you, I did lose it. I ran upstairs to get my bags and weapons ready. As I was walking out of the closet, I saw these sitting on the shelf and I grabbed them. I put them in my pocket, and I’ve had them with me since.”

“You’ve been carrying my wedding day cufflinks in your pocket for three weeks?” He looked at me and smiled.

I looked up at him and nodded. He wrapped his arms around my waist pulling me to him and kissed me hard, slipping his tongue into my mouth. I wrapped my arms around his neck, kissing him back. He pulled away and looked into my eyes. I swallowed, feeling my heart beating faster. “Don't give up on me.”

He rested his forehead on mine. “I won't.” He walked me slowly to the bed, sitting me on the edge. He bent down to kiss me and winced in pain. He stood up straight and took a deep breath.

I leaned up on my elbows, seeing the bulge in his pants. I stood up and pulled his tie free, throwing it to the floor, and started unbuttoning his shirt. I pulled it down his arms, letting it fall to the floor. My hands traced down his chest to the top of his pants, keeping my eyes on his. Watched as his chest rose and fell. I unbuttoned his pants and knelt helping him slip his feet out. Running my hands up his body as I stood back up.

He looked at me, “what if I can’t move like,”
