Tears poured from my eyes as I looked at the letter in my hands. Luka looked at me. “What can I do?”
I held the letter out to him. “Read this.”
I walked over and looked out the window, the picture still pushed to my chest. A few minutes later Luka walked over, the letter in his hand, and wrapped his arms around me. He kissed the tears on the left side of my cheek, pulling my body into his. My breath hitched in my chest as I let myself collapse into him. He held onto me tight holding me up. “I will always protect you and keep you safe. I guess I am fulfilling a promise I never knew I made. I love you, Alora Rossi, and I plan on spending the rest of our lives showing you how much.”
My body started to shake as the tears poured from my eyes. Luka scooped me into his arms and kissed the top of my head. I looked at him, reaching up and I laid my hand on the side of his face. “Don’t give up on me.”
