Our drippingwet feet pad up the stone walkway, leaving dark footprints behind, as we run up to the house giggling after a dip in the ocean.
“Holy shit. I don’t think I’ve had that much fun in my life,” Archer says out of breath, bare ass naked, and opens the door to the fridge.
“Not during all your bad boy shenanigans?” I ask skeptically while grabbing us both a soft plush towel.
“Nope. My dick-head friends have nothing on this fine ass,” he growls the words and reaches for me instead of the towel I’m extending. I’ve wrapped myself up, but he slips his hand down to cup my cheek in his strong grasp. I make a noise like a giddy squeak and let him pull my body to his. Our lips meet in a chaste kiss, and when he pulls back, he just looks at me. I can’t help but bite my lip at the sweet expression. The feeling going straight to my heart instead of the usual target of my sex. This is intimate in a new way.
“God, when you look at me like that,” he growls and meets my lips with his.
“Okay, okay, we have to eat. God, I don’t think I’ve ever had this much sex,” he says, stepping back and reaching back into the fridge.
“With the same person?” I sass, although part of me wonders. He just smiles, like my comment is ridiculous. I know better. I just had that magnificently skilled body working me to mind-blowing new heights. All. Damn. Day. Archer could easily have anyone he wants, which makes me wonder how long this will last.
“How does grilled cheese, soup, and strawberries sound?”
“Really good,” I answer, shivering from the cool air, but mostly from my own insecurities.
He looks up from the assorted foods he’s scattered across the island, gauging my reaction.
“Or we can throw on some clothes and eat out if you’d like?” His tone has changed from playful to worried, but I shake my head and smile.
“No, let's stay home. I’m just going to run up and change.”
“Don’t get your hair wet,” he jokes, and I laugh while heading upstairs.
I wonder if I’ll be able to survive the fallout of being engaged to Archer, or if I’m destined to fall in love with a man who simply needed a favor and nothing more.
