“You know, Bambi,” Cuyler says, coming to stand beside me, cutting his way in line, and not one person says a damn thing. “I heard you’re going on the list.” Seriously, this damn list thing again.

“Is this some mean girls list on girls not to bang?” He laughs, causing his shoulder length curly blonde locks to sway around his face.

“No, but you will wish it were.” I place some fruit onto my tray, and he steals it, placing it on his, so I grab another.

“Well, I look forward to whatever this list is then.” I scan my bracelet at the end of the line after adding juice and yogurt to my tray.

“Just make sure you don’t sleep naked.” He says, scanning his bracelet, the gold against his sun-kissed skin is enough to make a girl swoon.

“And give Diesel a peep show? I think not. I’m sure he gets enough pussy thrown at him.”

“I like you,” he says matter-of-factly. “We’re going to be good friends.” With that, he walks away, and I call out after him to not count on it, but he just waves a hand over his head, ignoring me completely.

I join Luna, and she looks like she wants to ask me something. “What was that all about?” She finally asks.

“What was what about?” I ask.

“Cuyler and you in the line, his girlfriend Blaine is staring you down.” I look over and see three girls staring me down–Kelby, Taleah, and Blaine. Over the last week, I have come to figure out that Kelby is obsessed with Diesel, and her best friend is Blaine, who is with Cuyler, and I’m not sure what Taleah’s deal is, but she follows them around like a good little minion.

“Nothing, he just declared we’re going to be friends.” Luna scoffs at my comment.

“Those guys are not friends with any girl except Lux, and that’s only because she’s the triplets' father's goddaughter. They are up to something, so be careful. They love to play with their targets. They will draw you in and end you when you least expect it. Their cruelty knows no bounds.”

I’m an idiot, maybe that is what they mean by me being on their list. I don’t say anything else to her about the list, I really don’t care if they want to target me, they can have at it.

Chapter Eight

Diesel

“What do you mean you fucking put her as a bid?!” I yell at Wilder, my body vibrating with unconstrained rage.

“The bitch keeps sticking her nose in where it doesn’t belong,” he shouts back.

Fucking idiot, he just played right into my father’s hands, and he doesn’t even know it.

“You’re a goddamn idiot. You can’t even fight for her, your points are not high enough for her. Do you even know who her father is?”

“I figured Rebel might have fun playing with her.” He shrugs his shoulders, like he didn’t just fuck everything up. “He wants to fuck her, and it keeps him away from Luna.”

I shake my head, that damn idiot. Rebel isn’t going to fight for her. Luna is under his skin now, and Wilder made it fun for him. So he will fight for her, just to piss Wilder off. He isn’t the eldest of the triplets, so his father really doesn’t care who he fights for. Not all fathers are like mine. Mr. Langley is a good man, and I’m sure he has his fingers dipped into some shady shit, just like my father does, but at least he gives a shit about his kids.

“Or, maybe you could have some fun with her,” Ryot suggests. “You know it would piss your father off if you won her and then toyed with her for the rest of the year. He would cum in his fucking pants thinking you would want her, and then once she is broken and back in rehab, you can laugh in his face.”

I told them about the files Marlow sent me, I figured they would have found out anyway. It’s natural for us to get background checks on those who spend time with us, and I’m sure their fathers would have insisted on it.

I ponder over what Ryot just said. I know my father wants me to fight for her–he was counting on it. He can explain away someone else nominating her, my father has a way with words when he needs to. He could sweet talk the panties off a nun.

“Maybe,” I say, brushing off his comment. I don’t want him to know how much the thought of playing with her makes me hard.

“I don’t know if Diesel has it in him to be nice to a girl. I think he was dropped on his head one too many times,” Hendrixx laughs. The asshole is lucky he is the top Alpha for the year elevens.

“What do you have next?” Cuyler asks. “Did you wanna ditch and go surfing?”

Something is going on with him lately, he seems off, but I have maths next, my worst damn subject, and since it's a compulsory subject, I can’t afford to ditch.

“Can’t. I have maths, and if I fail, my father will hand me my ass.”

The bell rings and people start moving around the dining hall. I stand and take my tray to the bin and tip its contents inside, then stack my tray on the top.
