The pool house is eerily quiet, maybe she didn’t come back here, but surely Wilder would have mentioned it if she was staying with Luna. She doesn’t have any other friends besides Cuyler, and I would know if he was hiding her.

I walk through the room and peer through the slightly cracked door. The TV is on, but the screen has the ‘are you still watching prompt’, so she must be fast asleep.

Opening the door, both Wilder and I enter the small living area. I don’t know if she senses us here, or if she heard the bedroom door, but she starts to stir. Wilder waits behind the couch, and I move around to stand in front and cough, startling her awake.

“Diesel,” she gasps, clutching her chest. “What are you doing here?”

“Taking you home,” I state, crossing my arms over my chest.

“Why? You made it clear that you want nothing to do with me.”

“I still don’t, but I’m also a selfish motherfucker and don’t like others playing with my toys. I should have known you were too good to be true, but I won’t make that mistake again.”

“Just go away and leave me alone.”

“No can do, princess,” Wilder says, making himself known. “You either come with us the easy way or the hard way,” he smirks, pulling the cable ties from his pocket.

“You seriously brought him here? Out of all the Alphas, you thought Wilder was the best fit? Cuyler, Hendrixx, or even Rebel probably could have talked me into it nicely. But you bring the asshole that is lying to my best friend about her past. If she didn’t come from money, she wouldn’t be on the list.”

“Shut your fucking mouth before I shut it for you,” Wilder snaps. Cyrus stands from the couch.

“Go on, Wilder, try and shut my mouth because I know a lot, and don’t for one second think I haven’t been documenting it. I do come from the same social standing as all you assholes, and blackmail isn’t possible without evidence.”

Wilder grinds his jaw, and I try not to smirk, her damn fire turns me on, but I can’t get lost in her again. We could have been unstoppable if she really felt anything for me at all, and it wasn’t an act. Sent here by my father, just like Misty and my virginity, and even Belle taking bribes. Women are weak, and it shows.

“Leave,” I tell Wilder.

“And walk back?” He snarks.

“Fucking fly for all I care, just leave.”

“Fuck you, Diesel,” he snaps. I don’t take my eyes off Cyrus, but a door slamming indicates that he is gone.

“Be smart about this. My father will be back in a few days, so you can’t stay here. Would you want to be responsible for the scandal of a student sleeping in the same space as a teacher?”

I know my father wouldn’t give a fuck, and it is probably the reason Emory has her here, to piss my father off a little and me a lot.

“Fine,” she huffs. “But tomorrow, I’m going to speak to Miss Baron and ask her to find me somewhere else to stay, or I will call my father and ask him to put me up in a hotel close by until we get the room situation sorted out.”

“Have at it, little creature, this is a boarding school and no spaces available.”

“I’m sure someone else would be more than happy to share with me.”

“It will all be on your shoulders when people get hurt. If you’re willing to risk it, go right ahead.”

“Agh,” she snaps, throwing her hands in the air. “You have an answer for everything, you cocksucker.”

She marches out of the living room and throws the front door open. I grab her bag and follow her out.

Chapter Twenty- Seven

Cyrus

Once Diesel dropped me off, I went straight upstairs and threw on one of Cuyler’s shirts. Yes, I am that petty now, apparently, and have spent all night thinking about what I plan to do. I decided to allow myself this pity party, and in the light of day, I will get on with my life.

It's funny, avoiding people you live with should be hard, except the Alphas have been MIA all day, and I’m not sure how that’s possible. Cuyler hasn’t messaged me either, I have to admit that stings the most. I messaged Luna and promised I was fine, I just needed to be alone. She said she understood.

Once I’m dressed, I see the time and realise I’m late for school. I steal one of Rebel’s chocolate pop tarts and make my way to school. Before I walk into class, a text comes through, and I peek a look.
