“Because I wanted Bash to remember our past.” He kissed my neck, causing my skin to pebble with goosebumps. “It’s a reminder to never feel the way we did back then.”

“But meeting you changed everything for us.” Bastian brushed his fingers down my arm and smiled. “We love you. And we want to feel everything with you.”

Luca knocked on the door before popping his head into the bathroom. I stood in front of the mirror, fixing a loose curl into a diamond pin as he approached me. Licking his lips, he stopped a few inches behind me, dressed in his usual armor—a black suit that fit his muscular body like a glove. I wore a white Roman-style dress that swept over one shoulder with golden accents and a long slit up my right thigh.

“Your family is arriving soon.” He cupped my shoulders, staring at me in the mirror with a seductive look in his eyes. “You look divine. Like a goddess.” His fingers trailed down the length of my arm, leaving fire in his wake. “If we had more time…” He pressed a kiss to my shoulder. “The things I would do to you, my queen.”

I chuckled. “We don’t have time.”

He kissed my neck, then my jaw. I leaned back against his chest, drinking in his delicious scent.

“I’m a patient man, but the wait is killing me.” Luca buried his face in my neck, peppering my skin with kisses. “I don’t want to wait another second to make you my wife.”

He pressed his lips together, and a worried expression darkened his handsome features.

“What are you not telling me, Luca?”

“Lorenzo is on the move.” Luca rubbed my shoulder as he stared at me in the mirror. “He was last spotted in New York. Drake’s been monitoring him.”

“Why are the Luciano brothers helping you? Aren’t they Lorenzo’s nephews?”

He nodded. “They don’t answer to the Sicilians. Dante runs his own operation in Atlantic City. Most of his profits come from gambling. He’s not into the girls, guns, and drugs.”

“Lorenzo sells women?”

Another nod. “He strong-armed the Knights into transporting guns and drugs for him using Mac Corp containers. But we refused to help him traffic women.”

“Your dad turned Salvatore Global into a multi-billion dollar empire. Why do you keep working with the Mafia and drug cartels?”

“It’s not that easy to walk away. We have a long-standing relationship with our clients and know too much about their illegal operations.”

“Which makes you a liability if you walk away.”

“Exactly.” He spun me around, so we were facing, and backed me onto the counter. “We don’t have a choice, baby. If I could get out of these deals, I would.” He tucked a curl behind my ear. “Having powerful friends is useful to us.”

“What do you mean?”

“Lorenzo is ruthless,” he said in a stern tone. “And not well liked in Italy, not even among his men.”

“Are they planning a coup?”

He bobbed his head to confirm. “Dante has been in contact with Lorenzo’s second-in-command, Giovanni Angeli. They’re working together to move against Lorenzo. That’s why he left Italy. He suspected his men were plotting against him.”

I expelled a deep breath, relieved by the news. “When is this going to be over?”

“Soon, baby. I promise.” He stroked my cheek with the rough pad of his thumb. “Once we’re married, he won’t have any reason to take you from us.”

“Luca, what’s going to happen to me?”

“Nothing, baby.” He bent down and kissed my forehead. “I will gladly give my life for yours.”

“No, you can’t. I won’t allow it.”

He grabbed my hand and covered his heart with my palm. “Do you feel this? My heart only beats this way for you. You are a part of me, Drea. Without you, none of this shit matters. My life doesn’t matter.”

“Luca, don’t say that.”

“You revived me.” He shoved his hand through my hair and kissed my lips. “I was drowning in a sea of darkness, and then you saw me. The real me. You accepted all of my scars and pain, and I knew you understood. You saved me, baby girl. I’m not a good man, and I never will be. But the part of you that lives inside me is good. And I save those parts of myself for you and only you.”
