Archie turned to see Matt on the other side of the room give a nod. His attention moved to the group Tabitha was in. Max nodded back to Matt before asking Tabitha to follow him. What kind of plan was in place that he wasn’t aware of?

“What’s going on?” Archie walked along the wall as Ryan took slow steps towards the group.

“Contingency plan,” replied Tyler.

Archie watched Max escort Tabitha out of the main room. He looked back at the group and saw Eric keeping Luke entertained. What the fuck was going on? He didn’t like knowing what was happening, so he followed after them.

“Arch, where are you going?” Tyler questioned.

“Dude, the fuck,” muttered Matt.

“Matt, stay on Ryan.” Tyler ordered.

“I got eyes,” responded Matt.

Archie zoned out from the conversation in his ear as he moved further down the wall until a hallway appeared. He followed the hall down until he heard their voices, but it wasn’t close enough. He needed to know what was happening.

“I love that idea. Several of us are here, so it’d be easy to do that at the photo booth.” Tabitha smiled.

“Exactly!” Max spoke, but his hands shook slightly. “Do you want us to start it off and have the rest of them pop in?”

“Sure,” she replied.

Archie stepped closer until Max turned to see him, then Tabitha.

“Arch!” Tabitha’s eyes grew. “Everything okay?”

He glanced between the two of them. “What’s going on Max?”

“We’re coming up with an idea for a reel. One of the sponsors for the event works with all of us, so we thought it’d be fun to market while we’re all looking spiffy.” Max spoke clearly, but Archie could see the slight quiver. He was clearly nervous.

“What was with the nod to Matt? What plan is in place?” Archie needed to know.

“What are you going on about?” Tabitha questioned him, then turned to Max. “What’s he talking about?”

“It’s because he spotted her, isn’t it?” He stepped closer to the pair of them.

“They said it was a slim chance. I was going to bring the idea up to the group. The timing just happened to be now, so here we are, out of sight.” Max swallowed.

“What the hell are you guys talking about?” Tabitha crossed her arms.

“Your ex is here, and he spotted you.” Archie’s eyes narrowed on her.

Her hands dropped, and she started taking in abnormal breaths.

“Hey,” Max put a hand on her back. “It’s going to be okay.” He turned to face him. “Right?”

“Fuck! I lost him!” Matt’s voice yelled in his ear.

“Who’s got ears?” Tyler asked.

“I’m looking,” Aaron started. “He’s heading to the hall. Arch, he’s coming behind you.”

Archie looked at Max. “Take her back to the main room, but go that way.” He gestured behind them before turning around.

“Got it! Come on, Tab.” Max attempted to pull her along.

“Wait,” said Tabitha.
