“What was your major?”
“Business…but I have no idea how I’m going to sit in an office for the rest of my life when I’m used to training all day.”
“It’s something you get used to, you know?” I say, echoing his own words back to him, and he chuckles before moving closer to me.
“You’re a pain in my ass; you know that?” he asks, his eyes dark and filled with lust when he pulls me against him.
“And yet you keep looking me up.”
“Sucker for punishment.”
I giggle, and he kisses me, and butterflies erupt in my stomach.
Brett is deliciously hot, so good in bed my toes curl just thinking about the times we spent together, and he’s a hell of a charmer. But now that we’re getting to know each other a little better, I’m starting to see a side of him that has nothing to do with his charm and the image he portrays to the rest of the world. Despite looking like an Adonis and acting like he’s invincible, he’s just as unsure about his future as I feel sometimes, and he doesn’t know what his life is going to be when he needs to change his career.
Our conversation, small as it was, shows me that under all his bravado, Brett is different.
And I like that about him.
